I saw this list and genuinely had to put my phone down for a second.
Then I picked it back up because I could not stop looking at it.
Look, I have been laid off twice so I feel qualified to say this..... nothing prepares you for that email.
Not your savings account. Not your LinkedIn connections. Not the fact that you have been a top performer for three years running.
One day you have a title and a benefits package and the next day you are refreshing Indeed at 11pm eating cereal for dinner wondering what just happened.
And now AI is doing it at scale. At like, terrifying scale.
But here is the thing nobody is talking about in between all the doom posts.
This is also the greatest forcing function in history for people to finally stop waiting and start building something of their own.
I am willing to bet that every person who got pushed out of corporate and actually did something different with it looks back and calls it the best thing that ever happened to them. Including me. Especially me.
So yes the list is scary. Yes the news is scary. Yes AI is real. And yes your cereal dinner era might be coming.
But it might also be the beginning of something way better than whatever that company had planned for you.
Just something to think about.
