🥸🤓Facts!! 👆👇🤝👀 Finding the shortest distance in a binary maze is modeled as a shortest-path problem on an unweighted graph. The grid is treated as a graph where each cell containing a 1 is a node, and adjacent cells (up, down, left, right) are connected by edges. The optimal approach is Breadth-First Search (BFS). 1. Graph Representation Nodes/Vertices: Cells with a value of 1 (passable). Edges: Connections between adjacent 1s (4-directionally or 8-directionally, depending on constraints). Weight: All edges have an equal cost of 1. 2. Why BFS? BFS is preferred over DFS (Depth-First Search) because it explores the graph level-by-level (expanding outward from the source). The first time BFS visits the destination node, the path taken is guaranteed to be the shortest. 3. Step-by-Step Algorithm (BFS Approach) Initialize Queue: Create a queue for BFS and enqueue the starting cell with distance 0 (or 1, depending on if you count cells or steps). Visited Matrix: Use a visited[n][m] boolean matrix or a distance[n][m] matrix to keep track of visited cells to prevent cycles and unnecessary computation. Process Queue: While the queue is not empty: Pop the front cell (current node). If the popped cell is the destination, return the current distance. For each of the 4 adjacent neighbors: Check if it is within boundaries. Check if the cell value is 1 and not visited. If valid, mark as visited, increment distance by 1, and add to the queue. No Path: If the queue becomes empty and the destination is never reached, return -1. #coding #codeprep #leetcode #dsa #java

𝙀𝙭𝙥𝙡𝙖𝙣𝙖𝙩𝙞𝙤𝙣 ⬇️ • In Python, variables don’t store the actual data directly; they store references (or pointers) to objects in memory. • When you write b = a, you’re not creating a new copy of the list. Instead, both a and b point to the same list object. • So when you do b.append(3), you’re modifying that shared list. • Therefore, print(a) shows [1, 2, 3] because a and b are just two names for the same object. Visualizing Think of it like this: a ──► [1, 2] b ──┘ After b.append(3): a ──► [1, 2, 3] b ──┘ Final output ✅ : [1, 2, 3] ..............................................................................
