GI🩺 Of course nurses want to be helpful.
The one who jumps in when a coworker is behind.
The one who stays a few minutes late to make sure everything is done.
The one who says yes when someone needs help.
But if you say yes to everything, eventually there’s nothing left for you.
Learning to say no without burning bridges is a skill.
Here are a few things that help:
🌟Prioritize your capacity.
You’re part of the equation too. Your time and energy matter.
🌟 Weigh the pros and cons.
Not just “can I technically do this?” but also “what will this cost my nervous system?”
🌟 Set boundaries ahead of time.
It’s a lot easier to say no when you’ve already decided what works for you.
🌟 Be intentional with your words.
Kind. Direct. Neutral.
You can be a supportive coworker and protect your energy.
Both are possible.
