The #1 question I’ve been getting this year is: “How do I figure out my career when the job market and AI are wild?” And I think I found the answer. #LinkedInPartner There have been SO many thought pieces and speculation about how work is changing with the economy and this new age of AI and @linkedin just released the first ever career playbook tackle modern career issues. It’s written by LinkedIn’s CEO and Chief Economic Officer. It’s called “Open To Work”, and there are 3 key concepts that stood out: 1. AI is not coming after your job. It’s coming after your *tasks*. 2. You need to focus on the things that make us uniquely human. Researchers found that they are the 5Cs: Curiosity, Courage, Creativity, Compassion, and Communication. 3. Careers are not ladders anymore. They’re climbing walls. They’re nonlinear. This 1 minute video barely covers the insights that this book has to offer. I got an early copy of it, and I absolutely love the reframing of approaching your career. It has frameworks and tactical career advice that *actually* work in today’s evolving workplace based on research from LinkedIn and Microsoft. It’s given me so much clarity on where to focus on my own efforts as someone on my own career climbing wall. If you’re looking to build a long-term career, I highly recommend reading this book! Like any of the feeds we interact with daily, a little curation goes a long way (though I’ll say the un-curated LinkedIn feed is still pretty dang solid). Here’s how I build my personal LinkedIn career growth curriculum: 1️⃣ Curate the voices → I follow Top Voices and the operators I actually want to learn from, and I’ll audit my connections (unfollow is a super power; you’ll still be connected and they’ll never know!) 2️⃣ Train my feed: It’s an algorithm - so I try to teach it what I like by liking and commenting on posts I find useful/want more of. 3️⃣ Use it as a study tool. Read the daily news digest, save posts with frameworks or tool recs, and actually come back to them when I need inspo or guidance. We’re already checking socials every day, so why not build a LinkedIn feed to discover the content that supports you most as you grow your career?
