@jdesireelm did it again! Literacy Matters hosted an amazing event at Chumley elementary School this weekend. I'm so grateful she continues to ask me to join her and her team. We had 6 amazing authors to promote literacy, face painting the school choir and dance team. Raffles, free book giveaway and lots of great conversations about books. P.s. I'm a little rusty at doing events, this was the only video I got on my phone. I learned about RCF while researching a special I produced called, Literacy Matters.” 69% of U.S. 4th graders are not proficient readers and 40% are below basic, according to the National Assessment of Educational Progress. It’s unacceptable. Thankful my oldest son could see the impact and hear phenomenal stories of perseverance, determination and grit, led by our keynote speaker, Nike’s Chief Innovation Officer, John Hoke III🙌🏾 And yes—we wore Nike’s —fav son was tickeled when John Hoke told him, “hey man I designed the shoes you’re wearing!”
