CHAuthorities in Kentucky say military units responded late tonight after radar systems detected an unidentified flying object moving through restricted airspace above the Louisville area.
According to preliminary reports from local officials, the object was first spotted shortly after 9:40 p.m. traveling at high speed over the western side of the city. Military personnel were quickly alerted, and response aircraft were deployed to intercept the object.
Witnesses across several neighborhoods reported seeing bright flashes in the sky followed by a loud boom moments later.
“It looked like a streak of light moving across the sky and then suddenly there was a bright flash,” one Louisville resident said.
Officials say the object was successfully brought down outside the city limits in a rural area south of Louisville. Emergency response teams and military personnel have secured the crash site while investigators begin examining the debris.
Authorities have not confirmed what the object was but described it as an “unidentified aerial craft” pending further investigation.
Residents have been advised to avoid the area while crews continue recovery operations.
