AKHere’s the 4th of the videos from my new EP, ‘MYST.wave’, which is out now on floppy disk, download and all streaming platforms (links in bio). The EP is a celebration of the world building of the iconic game Myst, featuring six reimaginings of the original game soundtrack. This game was one of the first computer games I ever played, and it’s striking visual aesthetic is something that has had a lasting impact on my work. It took until recently to figure out exactly what the vibe was that I found so compelling: the game is a masterpiece of kenopsia, the eerie, forlorn, atmosphere of a location where once there were people and life but is now abandoned and quiet. The sense that something once happened here, an indeterminate amount of time of ago, maybe you’ve just missed someone / something or maybe it was aeons ago, but now there’s just a dusty, sun-bleached stasis and scattered remnants.
