ANIn 2018 we returned from living abroad in the UK, Sweden and California for over 6 years — I found myself a bit lost. All my friends moved to big cities so I needed to build my life back home again with two babies and a growing business. I thought - coming from a family of artist - let’s make new friends by trying new things. Interior is a great passion of mine and I felt the need to create objects for our new home. So I started a ceramic course… and clay became my new friend. I love the process of working with my hands and feel honored my objects are well received. Showcasing my work at the @houseofdagmar store in Stockholm was for instance definitely a pinch me moment. The city our son was born, leaving something tangible behind. To me that’s the beauty of clay: while we will fade over time, it’s powerful to know I leave something behind. Ah anyway- I can go on and on about this subject. That’s passion in its core 🤎 #ceramics

HEThis was my first time working with linen! It’s usually a fabric I avoid as I’ve never really thought it suited my aesthetic or the garments I make!
But then @minervadotcom released the Exclusive Ombre Gradient Soft Washed 100% Linen POD Fabric and I saw the black cherry and had to snap it up! First things first, as always I washed and dried the fabric as I would a finished garment and the colour stayed as beautifully vibrant as it arrived and it was still lovely and soft!
I then ironed the fabric and was worried that dragging the iron may cause stretching and distortion of shape but as a whole it was ok! The fabric has a lovely amount of stretch that came in handy when making the shirt as it allows you to ease things into place without distorting the shape. However, be careful when sewing an interfaced piece and non-interfaced piece together as the piece that has no interfacing will slightly pull and pleat! I conquered this by having the interfaced piece on top letting the feed dogs pull the non-interfaced piece through, I also pulled a little tension and it seemed to work.
The fabric takes interfacing really well from 3m I was able to make a shirt and shorts with all these pockets and still have a bit left to hopefully make a bag….maybe.
Apart from a small amount of pulling when stretch is different the fabric sews beautifully and doesn’t pucker. I would definitely advise sealing the edges with fraystop, overlocking or overcasting as there is a bit of fraying due to the build up of the fabric.
This linen is perfect for bringing a bright pop of colour into your summer wardrobe! I knew exactly what I wanted to make when I saw this fabric! I’m on a cruise and thought it would be the perfect 2 piece for the Mediterranean heat! I used the @simplicitymccallsuk S3110 shorts and shirt for men! Which is a super pattern to follow and a sleek finish!
