Maglev trains don’t rely on wheels at high speed. After initial rollout on small rubber wheels, powerful magnetic systems lift the train a few millimetres above the track. No physical contact. Almost no friction. Levitation is achieved through either electromagnetic attraction or magnetic repulsion using superconducting magnets. Forward motion comes from a linear motor built into the guideway, creating a moving magnetic field that pulls the train along with precision. The result is higher speeds, lower mechanical wear, and greater energy efficiency compared to conventional rail. Medan magnet yang diciptakan oleh kumparan listrik di dinding jalur pemandu dan rel bergabung untuk mendorong kereta. Dengan desain aerodinamisnya, kereta maglev bisa mencapai kecepatan tinggi karena menghilangkan gesekan. Shinkansen Seri L0 mampu melaju dengan kecepatan hingga 374 mil per jam (601 kilometer per jam). Rencananya, segmen pertama kereta ini akan digunakan pada tahun 2027 dengan rute Tokyo-Nagoya sejauh 482 kilometer yang ditempuh dalam waktu 1 jam 7 menit.
