Hot take 🔥 When I add numbers in real life… I don’t use the first way (the way we grew up learning). 😱 Sometimes I round. ⭕️ Sometimes I break numbers apart. ⛓️‍💥 Sometimes I use partial sums. 🤔 Because that’s what actually makes sense in my head. 💭 Comment which way makes more sense to you? 👇 #mathhelp #2ndgrademath #mentalmath #partialsums #parentinghelp

Click the link in my bio for the my Free equations course📙 Parents — this is one of the most common Algebra mistakes I see. Students substitute correctly… but forget to distribute to every term in the parentheses. That one step alone can completely change the answer. After 17 years teaching Algebra, I’ve seen this mistake again and again. If your student struggles with Algebra foundations, I have a free mini-course on multi-step equations that helps students master these skills. Comment READY and I’ll send it to you. #AlgebraHelp #Algebra1 #MathHelp #ParentTips #AlgebraMistakes

I'll show you how to add 10 numbers in 2 seconds flat. Stop using your calculator for this. Here’s a shortcut I use for summing 10 consecutive numbers without adding. Take any 10 consecutive numbers (e.g., 18, 19, 20, 21, 22...) Find the 5th number (in this case, 22). Append the digit '5' to the end. The sum is 225! That's it! It works every single time. But it's not magic, it's just the beauty of math! Seen another problem you want me to simplify? The standard algorithm isn’t going away—and it shouldn’t. Students need to understand it. But for some students, the standard algorithm can feel overwhelming at first. That’s where the turtle method 🐢 comes in. For whatever reason, this simple visual helps organize the steps clearly—especially for students who need a little extra support. It slows things down just enough so they can actually see what’s happening instead of rushing and getting lost. Think of it like training wheels. Eventually, the turtle disappears. Once students are strong and confident, they don’t need the visual anymore—we’re no longer relying on the turtle to guide each step. It’s not replacing the standard algorithm… it’s helping students get there. Turtle Method Steps 🐢 1. Draw a turtle head around the bottom number and circle the ones place. 2. Multiply using the standard algorithm (ones place first). 3. Put a “collar” around the digit you just used. 4. Drop an egg (placeholder zero). 5. Move to the tens place and multiply using the standard algorithm again. 6. Add the numbers #dolphinmath #parentsupport #education #mathhelp together. 7. Find your final product. Save this to try later. Share it with someone who might need it. Parents—what are your thoughts? Did your child struggle with the standard algorithm? Do you think this might help? If you’re looking for extra support, feel free to reach out at dolphinmath.com.

If I don’t laugh, I’d cry because WHY do they don’t teach you this from the beginning? 😭 - How do you get Straight As in Math?? ‼️‼️‼️ PRACTICE ‼️‼️‼️ Math is an application-based subject ✖️➗ This means that you need to learn to APPLY what you learnt to different situations every time, rather than just memorise & regurgitate information. 🧠 Most students make the mistake of studying for Math like other content heavy subjects (e.g. rewriting notes, making flashcards), which will help you memorise formulas. 😥 This method trains you to only be able to answer questions that are exactly the same as you have seen before. It will not teach you how to apply them in the exam, where you will likely get a different question/example that you haven’t seen before. So what should you do instead? ✍🏽✍🏽 Do as many practice questions as you can. Start with the easy textbook drills, then work your way up to worded problem solving questions, and eventually extended response questions/practice exam questions. 📚📖 This is going to help you memorise the formulas MUCH better because you’ll gain a deeper understanding of the concept, and it will train you to be able to answer ANY question you could possibly get on the exam 🏆💯🥰 - #studyhacks #studygram #studytips #studytechniques #studyhelp #studywithme #studymotivation #mathhelp #mathhacks #studentlife #students #studentproblems #topstudent #topgrades #goodgrades
