I wanted this piece to have enough ease for me to feel comfortable but still have a sense of shape and tailoring! I’m also fully obsessed with making my clothes look super professional from the inside, so ofc I lined it completely with a thin cotton fabric so that there are no exposed raw edges or overlocking needed. My favourite part is the big white buttons down the side front!! I love the 60s vibe ❤️‍🔥 lmk what you think of this and if you think I should release the pattern!! #sewing #inspiration #memade #fashion #design

I’ve been working on a new project this month as an Aurifil Artisan, September’s theme has been all about Embracing the spirit of fall! So what better project than to finally get around to sewing up this quilted jacket that has been on my to-do list for far too long! The pattern is the Rue jacket from Spaghetti Western Sewing. I really love the aesthetic of Sadie’s patterns and this jacket is definitely up there for me! I used one of my own fabric designs - The terrariums in the light colour way. This is a light weight cotton, perfect for quilting! I used an ivory cotton for the lining and then I had some pre-made bias binding in my stash from past projects which worked perfectly. I decided to go for orange from the colour and the tops of the pockets for a bit of a pop. I thought long and hard about how I wanted to quilt this fabric, the design has a geometric element and so I didn’t really want to go with straight lines for the quilting. In the end I went for 3 lines of waves in different coloured thread and alternated the direction of the waves. I am so happy with how this turned out! I think it compliments the fabrics nicely. For threads I used Cotton 40WT 2123 Butter for the bobbin thread, this is so that on the inside the stitching matches the lining fabric. Then on the top thread I went for 3 colours of the wool 12wt, I love the texture of this thread. It just screams cozy autumn vibes! Azure 8823 Light Lavender 8574 Musk 8960 I then went with Pigeon wishes barbiecore buttons and used the wool thread again in Cotton Candy 8402 to match the button colour. So this winter I finally got down to learning and now I am absolutely addicted to knitting. Plus I’m spending way less time doom scrolling, so that’s another win. I know this isn’t the typical content I post on this channel (usually things like this go on @reneenotroaming), but I was too excited not to share hehe 🗒️ Pattern: Step by Step Sweater by @handmade_by_florence. It’s a free pattern (you’ll find it on Ravelry) and there’s an in-depth YouTube video where she walks you through the whole process. Perfect for beginners and I couldn’t have done it without her tutorial! I had only knitted a simple beanie before this and that was a year ago, so I had forgotten everything. 🧶 Yarn: @langyarns_official Cloud in color 003 sourced from @violentcatlady (I think I used about 3.5 skeins). It’s a variegated yarn so it gradually changes colors as you knit, making these stripes. So fun! I took some time off work over the holidays and this sweater ended up taking me 15 days to knit. I have a story highlight over at @reneenotroaming showing the progress. Now I can’t wait to wear this on some travels this year!! 💖 #knitting #memade #stepbystepsweater

The week before QuiltCon was like a fever dream of hyperfocus and woven fabrics. 😂 Before I knew it, I had a handmade outfit for each day. I've enjoyed learning how to sew garments and I definitely see myself making more in the future. Pattern details below: 1. Pattern: The Marina Dress by @pinsnpatterns . Fabric: one Garden Variety FQ bundle by @annamariahorner @annamariatextiles plus a few added in @rubystarsociety wovens. The patchwork seams are serged and there is a lining in the bodice. This pattern was VERY good and easy to follow. 2. Pattern: #sidetiedungarees by @sasha__starlight . Fabric: Favorite Flowers Meadow Canvas in Natural by @rubystarsociety . This pattern designer might be my new favorite. The pattern had a lot of steps but it was incredibly detailed and easy for a beginner like me! 3. Pattern: #saguaropants by @fridaypatterncompany and the Front Tie Top by @unfetteredpatterns . Fabric: pink and red woven check from @merchantandmills . The two patterns for the set were great, and it was my second time making the Saguaro pants (love them!). The undershirt was a horrible pattern, I think it was an AI pattern - I don't recommend beginners but patterns on Etsy. 4. Pattern: #saguaroset by @fridaypatterncompany . Fabrics: Woven neon Dobby fabrics I found on Etsy from a shop based in India. I love Friday Pattern Company! I modified the pattern to give the set this cute split two tone effect. #memade #quiltcon2026
