On Monday I gave a private sound bath session to a book club of 10 lovely ladies looking for an intentional way to bring a sense of calm and clarity into their busy lives. We started by setting intentions - some wanted to give themselves grace as they were going through a major life change. Racing thoughts are common especially when starting a meditation practice. I explained how the sounds of the crystal bowls acts as a focal point for the mind. In my sound meditation sessions I guide you through deep breathing, positive affirmations and reminders to bring your awareness back to your intention. When I sit for one hour, it’s not silent inside. Sometimes I become extremely creative. Ideas start flowing. Plans. Solutions. Insights. And for a moment, I feel like getting up and noting everything down. Then I remind myself, maybe I can work on this later. Right now, just breathe. Other times it’s different thoughts. “I should have done that.” “I shouldn’t have reacted that way.” “I forgot this task.” “I have so much pending.” “I need to fix this.” It’s endless. Earlier, I would follow each one. Build on it. Analyze it. Continue it. Now I’m trying something else. Not suppressing. Not fighting. Not even perfectly ignoring. Just acknowledging. “Oh, this is what’s going on inside me.” And then… returning. Back to the breath. Sometimes I have to return like 50 times in one sitting. Maybe this is the art, this is what it is. Not controlling the mind, but gently refusing to chase it. Still learning. Still practicing [meditation practice, overthinking mind, observing thoughts, mindfulness practice, breath awareness, self awareness journey, mental clarity, conscious living responding vs reacting, inner work]

A lot of people think that going into deep meditation is a waste of time or an empty space or running away from life. I was explaining in my discussion with @dr_espen how in that deep transcendence otherwise known samadhi, we access the entire field of all potential and all creativity. It’s the field that Ray Dalio, the world‘s largest hedge fund manager, attributed to all of his success. It’s the space that Oprah Winfrey says “you create your best work in your best life.” Have you been able to transcend deeply into stillness in meditation?
