LILa notte del 4 maggio a New York si è tenuto il consueto ballo inaugurale della mostra @metmuseum. Il set designer Raúl Àvila, al @metgalaofficial_ dal 2007, e il team di progettazione dell’evento, che include il regista Baz Luhrmann e il pluripremiato scenografo Derek McLane, hanno tradotto il tema della mostra “Costume Art” in un allestimento ispirato ai giardini rinascimentali del Nord Italia.
Il carpet sul quale sfilano gli ospiti è stato dipinto a mano per assomigliare a un sentiero di pietra, con macchie verde muschio, per dare la sensazione che sia «lì da molto tempo», commenta Àvila.
Cascate di glicini creano un’atmosfera romantica, degna di un’opera d’arte e una volta entrati nella Great Hall, una luna piena alta quasi 8 metri capeggia al centro della sala sopra una composizione di cipressi e fiori.
La mostra “Costume Art” è aperta al pubblico fino al 10 gennaio 2027.

This 8-foot immersive reinterpretation celebrates The Met Store’s new LEGO® Art set portraying the iconic artwork.
From Garden to the Gallery! The installation recreates the iconic water lily pond at Monet’s home in Giverny as seen in the original masterpiece, on view at The Met Fifth Avenue in Gallery 819. Combining over 60,000+ bricks and 192 hours of craftsmanship - this is the first LEGO® installation ever displayed at The Met, and is not to be missed!
WHERE: 📍The Met Fifth Avenue. 1000 Fifth Avenue (at 82nd Street).
WHEN: ⏰Museum Hours: Sun-Tue, Thurs: 10 am-5 pm. Fri-Sat 10 am-9 pm. Closed Wednesdays. The LEGO® installation is located near Gallery 819, and will be on view through June 2026.
