If you’ve only flown free aircrafts in MSFS you might not realize how different payware feels. I didn’t until I tried the Fenix A320.
Free aircrafts like the default Asobo planes and even the FBW A32NX feel smooth and easy to control. You move the stick and the aircraft follows. Landings are forgiving. Everything responds the way you expect without much resistance.
Then I flew the Fenix and it felt like a completely different experience.
The aircraft has weight. When you bank into a turn you feel it resisting. When you flare for landing the physics push back against you. The controls feel heavier and more deliberate. It’s like the aircraft is actually fighting the air instead of just gliding through it.
Going back to free aircrafts after that felt almost like easy mode. Less resistance. Less weight. Fewer limits. You can throw them around and they just do what you want.
I think free aircrafts simplify the flight model to make things more accessible. Which makes sense. Payware developers spend extra time tuning the physics to feel closer to the real thing even if it’s harder to fly.
Neither is wrong. Free aircrafts are perfect if you just wanna have fun and realism doesn’t matter at all. But if you want that next level of realism where the aircraft actually feels heavy and alive that’s what payware gives you.

Today I flew LATAM 3809 into Santos Dumont, an airport in Brazil notable for having an INCREDIBLE approach into a TINY runway. I flew into runway 20L which seems to the be the easier approach compared to flying into 02R (thats also more epic)
