Mobility shouldn’t be left as accessory work, it is your foundation for better movement, strength, and longevity! 🫶 Mobility is not just a gym or fitness thing, it’s preserving the quality of movement through your daily life. It’s freely moving without stiff joints, pain, or limitations down the line. It’s telling your nervous system that it is safe and strong through end joint ranges. It’s recovering quicker and moving more efficiently. It’s also joining in on activities, running around with your kids or besties, and added energy + courage to try new things. 💛 All to say, don’t let your mobility fall by the wayside. How to Turkish Get Up (TGU): This full-body move helps build shoulder stability, core strength, hip mobility, coordination, etc. I don’t do this with everyone but for the right person at the right time it hits. How to do it safely & effectively: 1️⃣ Set-up is everything - I have previous posts breaking this down. 2️⃣ Roll to your elbow - create space and keep the weight stable. 3️⃣ Palm down, press into the floor and slightly rotate fingers back to come to your hand 4️⃣ Hip bridge (or tuck the bottom leg first) to lift hips off the floor and sweep the leg under 5️⃣ Sit back in hips to come to half-kneeling, then square up using either a front leg lift or windshield wiper the back knee. 6️⃣ Tick toes under and come to standing, then reverse the steps back to the floor. Tip: Maintain 3 points of contact (hand, foot, shoulder) whenever possible for stability. This is a slow, mindful lift (i.e. quality over speed). Save for reference. #TurkishGetUp #FunctionalTraining #MobilityMatters #StrengthAndStability #denverpersonaltrainer
