When your mom or MIL shows up… helping with laundry, watching the baby so you can shower, cooking a meal when you’re too exhausted, it hits different. That’s not just help. That’s someone who raised you now helping you raise yours.
There’s something about your mom folding tiny onesies, knowing exactly how you like things done, showing up without you having to ask. It’s a layer of support that lightens the load in a way nothing else quite does.
I used to feel sad that my mom wasn’t close by. I’d see other moms with that built-in support and wonder what I was missing. And I know some of you are navigating motherhood without your mom at all and that’s a different kind of hard I can only imagine.
If you have your mom nearby? Don’t take it for granted. It’s a beautiful gift. And if you don’t, whether she’s far away, your relationship is complicated, or she’s no longer here… it doesn’t mean your motherhood is lacking. It just means you’re building something different. Your village looks different. Both are real motherhood. Both are full motherhood. But let’s not pretend they feel the same, because they don’t. And that’s okay to say out loud.

NII lost my job — suddenly, without cause or warning. No notice, no time to prepare. And honestly, it broke me.
Being a parent in today’s world already feels so heavy, and suddenly losing the job I loved just… hit hard. It had been a really difficult month, and this day was one of the hardest.
I make content (mostly for fun) about motherhood. The day this happened, my son was playing with one of his new birthday toys, and I wanted to film a little clip to share because it actually kept him engaged — something every parent knows is a miracle.
I thought I was okay. But the second I sat on the floor beside him, everything I’d been holding in came crashing down. I started crying — and my toddler came over and comforted me in the sweetest way which I caught on video.
I almost didn’t share this. It’s not my usual content, and it’s such a vulnerable moment. But I know so many people are struggling quietly, and I thought it might remind someone they’re not alone.
The internet had a lot to say — mostly kind and supportive (thank you). But at the end of the day, what matters most is what you’ll see in this clip: how quickly a child’s love can pull you out of the dark. ❤️
