Are you not doing it because something feels uncomfortable or overwhelming? Three years ago today, my husband took his last breath—and it didn’t have to happen this way. Today, April 3rd, marks 3 years since we lost Kyle, to pancreatic cancer. He was only 48. He was the kind of man you don’t come across often—brilliant, kind, deeply loving, and fully alive. A devoted father, a loyal friend, and someone who truly made this world a better place. We had our whole lives ahead of us. And yet… he was taken. For years, I’ve wrestled with the same questions: Why him? Why so young? Why when we have so much life left to live? What I’ve come to understand is this— It’s not just about why. It’s about what we’re willing to do now. Kyle was given an extra year of life because of an experimental treatment at Siteman Cancer Center. He was the very first human to receive it. At one point, we thought we’d need to raise $3 million just to fund the clinical trial so others could have the same chance. By God’s grace, Kyle received it through compassionate use. But most people won’t—unless we change that. So we started raising the money. Not just for him—but for everyone facing this horrific disease. To date, we’ve raised over $2 million. And today, on the 3-year anniversary of his passing, alongside 9 other pancreatic cancer families, we are launching a campaign to raise the final $1 million. In honor of Kyle. In honor of those we’ve lost. For those still fighting. And for those who don’t yet know this battle is coming. Because this isn’t just about one life. It’s about changing what’s possible for so many others. Every dollar brings us closer to giving someone else more time.
