Tylosaurus (Tylosaurus proriger), around 90–66 million years ago in what is now North America, primarily in the Western Interior Seaway. Tylosaurus was a giant mosasaur that reigned as the apex predator of the Late Cretaceous oceans. Unlike the long necked plesiosaurs of its time, this massive marine reptile was built for raw power and speed. It possessed a long, streamlined body and a powerful, shark like tail that propelled it through the water to ambush everything from flightless diving birds and sharks to other smaller mosasaurs. Its most distinctive feature was its hard, bony snout, which scientists believe it used as a battering ram to stun prey or rivals during territorial battles. Fast Facts Size: Up to 43 to 46 feet or 13 to 14 meters Weapon: Conical teeth and a reinforced bony ramming snout Location: Western Interior Seaway North America #Tylosaurus #Mosasaur #MarineReptile #Cretaceous #dinosaurs

Just a few days ago, a report about a “Cretaceous Kraken” was published - palaeontologists discovered a colossal squid, potentially larger than the Mosasaur. It lived at the same time as the Mosasaur, so the two species would likely have had confrontations, in a similar way to how the Megalodon and Livyatan would regularly meet. The anatomy of the fossil of the squid shows that it would have had teeth that would be used to bite into armoured and heavily shelled creatures. Tyrannosaurus Rex’in devasa bedeni ve güçlü arka bacakları, onun suda batmadan ilerlemesine olanak tanıyordu. Sixty-six million years ago, the oceans weren’t ruled by sharks — they belonged to the Mosasaur. These massive marine reptiles patrolled every corner of the ancient seas, from deep blue waters to warm coastal shallows. Their speed, power, and intelligence made them the apex predators of their time, and few creatures stood a chance once a Mosasaur locked onto them. One of their favorite meals was the ammonite, a spiral-shelled cephalopod that dominated the oceans for millions of years. Ammonites weren’t defenseless. They used jet propulsion to make sudden, razor-sharp turns, blasting water from their siphons to escape predators with incredible precision. Many could vanish in an instant, spiraling out of reach before a predator even reacted. But they had one fatal flaw: a blind spot directly behind them. And the Mosasaur knew it. With perfect timing, the Mosasaur would strike from behind, using its jaws to clamp down on the ammonite’s shell. But that shell was strong — far stronger than it looked. The Mosasaur often had to bite repeatedly, shaking the ammonite violently until the water pressure forced the shell to split. Only then could it reach the soft body hidden inside. Mosasaur dominance wasn’t limited to open water. In shallow coastal zones, they were even more terrifying. Their bodies were built for sudden bursts of speed, and they could surge upward with enough force to launch half their length out of the water. Some were powerful enough to lunge onto riverbanks, snatching unsuspecting dinosaurs — including young hadrosaurs — before dragging them back into the waves. The land had its kings. But beneath the surface, the Mosasaur ruled without question. 👉 Follow @dinosaur.documentaries for more prehistoric ocean battles and ancient survival stories. #USA #UnitedStates #unitedstatesofamerica #reels #explore

t’s hard to believe, but the American Midwest used to be the most dangerous ocean on Earth. 🦈🌾 75 million years ago, the "Western Interior Seaway" split North America in half. If you live in Kansas, Nebraska, or the Dakotas, your house would have been hundreds of feet underwater, swimming with Mosasaurs. 🗺️ Follow @TheLostAtlas for more hidden geography. #geology #kansasocean #mosasaur #prehistoric #midwest #ancienthistory #thelostatlas

This massive mosasaur is barely holding on. Her swollen belly tells the story — after nearly a year of pregnancy, she’s finally about to give birth. Carrying babies this large comes at a cost. The extra weight has made hunting almost impossible, leaving her weak and exhausted at the most dangerous moment of all. When the contractions begin, the pain is immense. For animals of this size, giving birth is never easy. But the delivery succeeds. The newborns are already nearly six feet long, and there’s no time to rest. Like all reptiles, they must reach the surface immediately to breathe or they’ll suffocate. Their mother gives what little help she can. Unfortunately, they’re not alone. The scent of blood spreads through the water, attracting a pack of giant predatory fish. They don’t target the mother — they go straight for the babies. Outnumbered and exhausted, she’s forced to flee, but not all of her young are fast enough. When escape is no longer possible, she turns to fight. Even weakened, an adult mosasaur is still a force of nature. With sheer intimidation and raw power, she drives the attackers away and protects the remaining offspring. In the prehistoric oceans, survival began the moment you were born. 👉 Follow @dinosaur.documenaries for more scenes from Earth’s most brutal era. 🇺🇸🇺🇸🇺🇸 Comment below if you’re watching from the USA or a Western country 🇺🇸🇺🇸🇺🇸 #usa #americanhistory #explorepage #reels #prehistoric

Cinematic 8k footage, hyper-realistic. Interior of a dimly lit, high-tech underwater research lab. Dr. Hale is standing with his back to the camera, looking through a massive reinforced glass window into a dark abyss. A gigantic prehistoric Mosasaur glides slowly from the shadows, its skin textured with battle scars and bioluminescent veins. The creature stops inches from the glass, its massive golden eye dilating as it focuses on the man. Dr. Hale slowly raises a hand to the glass. Dust particles dance in the blue volumetric light. Sharp focus, anamorphic lens flare, photorealistic water ripples. #PrimalTerror #PrehistoricCreatures #Mosasaur #AIFilmmaking #DeepSeaMystery DrHale SurvivalThriller
