Super Bloom has arrived at Bay Area 🏵️ 🏵️Poppies are the state flower of California, and they are in full bloom in the San Francisco Bay Area. 🏵️Mt.Diablo State Park is a park in Walnut Creek, Bay Area. 🏵️You can see large super bloom field of bright orange poppies at Mount Diablo State Park in the East Bay. 🏵️No hike required to see the blooms. Mount Diablo is the highest peak in the Bay Area, so there is a winding road to the summit which takes about 45 minutes from the entrance gate. You can drive up to the summit and stop along the way. There are picnic tables with views. 🏵️There are also other wild flowers along with poppies like wild mustard, lupines etc. 🏵️Entrance fee is $10 🏵️ Exact location of the Poppy field in Mount Diablo state park is found at Wild Cat Group Campground (South Gate Road) and along North Gate Road. 🏵️Poppies open only when the sun is out. They close when it's cold, cloudy, and evening. So the best time to visit is during sunny mid-days. 🏵️Follow Leave no trace and Please stay on the trail. I haven't stamped on any flowers here. 📍Wild Cat Group Campground (South Gate Road) and along North Gate Road, Mount Diablo State Park Super bloom in California, Superbloom 2023, California wildflowers, Bay Area, Bay Area superbloom Poppies, Super Bloom Mount Diablo, Mount Diablo State park. #poppies #superbloom #superbloom2023 #bayarea#sanfrancisco#sfbayarea#walnutcreek#mountdiablo#mountdiablostatepark#mt.diablo#hikecalifornia #bayareasuperbloom #visitcalifornia #travelcalifornia #california #californiadreaming #californialove #californiablogger #explorecalifornia #naturalcalifornia #naturelovers #poppy #superbloom#northerncalifornia

Your guide to the best Mt Diablo Spots! Tell us your favorite in the comments! From incredible views to unique rock formations, Mt. Diablo State Park is one of the best East Bay Area outdoor destination. Here’s our ranking for the best trails: 🅿️ Parking: use the South Gate entrance ($10 entry fee) or the Mitchell Canyon Visitor Center and use the yodel app for mobile payment ($6.35) 5. Juniper Trail: park near the Juniper campground and complete the ~ 4 mile loop in conjunction with the Summit Trail. Incredible views of the interior East Bay with golden brown trails and some quick creeks to hop over. 4. Mary Bowerman Loop Trail: Check out (and park) at one of the highest summits in the Bay Area (clocking in right after Mount Hamilton at 3849 ft). This trail has an other worldly terrain and some of the best views (on a clear day, you can see for up to 200 miles). This is also a place to save as it’s known in the winter to be one of the closest places to find a few inches of snow near the Bay Area. 3. Eagle peak trail via Mitchell Canyon: challenging hike that’s 7.75 miles. Park in the Mitchell Canyon Visitor Center and use the yodel app for mobile payment ($6.35). From the summit of Eagle Peak, you can enjoy panoramic views of the San Francisco Bay Area, the Central Valley, and the surrounding mountain ranges. This one is challenging! 2. Elephant Rock and Wind Caves: approximately 1 mile loop with less than 300 feet of total elevation gain. There are multiple wind caves that are fun to climb through; the broader area is known as ‘Rock City’. Ideal for kids of all ages! Hidden gem: there’s an unmarked but maintained trail behind Live Oak campground that has a secret adult size wind cave! 1. Sentinel rock via Trail through time/Wall Point road. Sentinel rock gives amazing views of the Bay Area, has a cool Yosemite vibe with stairs carved into the rock, and there are lots of Manzanita trees to observe as you hike through. A good extension from Rock City. Honorable mention: Waterfalls of Mount Diablo via Falls trail, which is currently dry waiting for the rains!

The best spring hike in the Bay Area 🌼🪻💦 This might be it! Taken on 3/31/2024 Mount Diablo State Park during the springtime gives flowing water to its six waterfalls, while also bringing life to the wildflowers around it, and it’s just started to bloom. Throughout our hike, I’ve seen poppies, plumes, blue dichelostemma capitatum, yellow mustards, etc. There are lots of great locations to see wildflowers in Mount Diablo like Mitchell Canyon, Curry Point, etc, but the trail we opted for was the Falls Trail, which at this time of year, the falls and flowers are thriving 🌿 🌿 Waterfalls of Mount Diablo Loop (7.8 miles, 1,765 feet of gain). ‼️ Although it’s still early spring, Mount Diablo gets hot. Bring enough water, sun protection. When exploring the outdoors, leave no trace, and pack your trash out. #hikingadventures #californiawildflowers #hiking #mountdiablo #visitcalifornia #superbloom #sfbayarea

Have you hiked to the top of Sentinel Rock at Rock City in Mt. Diablo State Park? It’s one of the park’s top attractions with cool rock formations, wind caves, and sweeping views! Hike highlights: ⛰️ Short but adventurous trail 🥾 Stairs carved into the rock 🌄 Epic panoramic views at the top ⚠️ Steep climb near the summit – fun but challenging! Know before you go: 📍 Location: Rock City, Mt. Diablo (enter via South Gate – North Gate is currently closed) 🗺️ Trail: Trail Through Time (skip the full loop – head straight to the rock) 🥾 Distance: Approximately 0.87 miles (1.4 km) round-trip 📈Elevation Gain: Approximately 100 feet (30 meters) 💪 Difficulty: Easy to moderate ☀️ No shade – go early or bring a hat 🚫 No dogs allowed on trail 💵 $10 parking fee – get the Rock City trail map at the entrance 🕗 Open 8am to sunset Perfect for adults & adventurous kids – but the steep climb may be tough for little ones! #sfbayarea #bayareahiking #bayareahikes #hikethebay #rockcity #mountdiablo #bayareatrails #solohiking #familyadventures #hiddenbayarea #sentinelrock

We LOVE that @outdoorwiseliving found our local 680 hidden hill zoo! Repost: A camel, a Zebra, & a hike oh my ⬇️ If you’ve ever driven on I-680 between Walnut Creek and Danville you’ve probably done a double take: is that a camel? Are those llamas? A zebra?!? It’s time to solve this mystery with an actually super fun lesser known trail guide in Danville. Be sure to follow @outdoorwiseliving for more trail CA discovery: 🥾 Trail: Las Trampas to Mount Diablo Regional Trail, Danville. 📅 Best Times to visit: Now. Wildflowers are present! 🅿️ Fee: Free. Park underneath 680 by Hap Magee Park, right at the trail head. 📏 Difficulty: Easy but steep. 1.5-3 miles. 🏔️ Elevation: ~350 ft 👧👦 Friendly: Great for kids! Bring binoculars. See tips below ♿️: Not ADA accessible. Facilities 🚽: at Hap Magee Ranch park less than 1/2 mile away. 🦮 Friendly: Dogs on leash 📕 Story: A private company leases some of the land and brings exotic animals. They help maintain the land by keeping the grass trimmed. ℹ️: Ticks are in the tall grass so stay where the trail is clear. Walk up the hill about 1/3 of the mile and look for a small entry to the top of the hill on your right. There’s the best place to view animals from up there while avoiding the really tall grass. The trail continues with a great bench to look at Mount Diablo. A big thank you to @c_ellis34 for finding this trail 🙏 🗑️ Remember, leave no trace, respect nature. #bayareahiking #bayarea #danvilleca #alamoca #walnutcreekca #sfbay #sfbayarea #bayareawildlife #eastbayarea #ebrpd #bayareamoms #bayareakids #bayareablogger #bayareabuzz #bayareadogs #bayareamom #californiahiking #explorebayarea #californiatrails #californiahiddengems #danvillecalifornia #alamocalifornia #californiawildflowers

This September, at least three California condors paid the East Bay a visit! Since 2021, when a California condor returned to Mount Diablo for the first time in over a century, condors have been checking out our region every year as their territory continues to expand. What do we know about the condors that flew here this year? Two juveniles visited Sunol Wilderness Regional Preserve on September 17. To date, we've funded 60 GPS units for California condors in Pinnacles National Park, but many still do not yet have them. This mean that though we tracked two into our area, there may have been many more that joined them in their journey! In fact, one condor without a tracker was even caught on camera! #CCLTFilmFest26 @calandtrusts

Let’s break it down…⤵️ I’ve lived in Walnut Creek, California almost my whole life. I’ve lived in SF and planted roots back in Walnut Creek. The Bay has always been the way for me. There’s ONE culture shock that still catches people off guard about Walnut Creek 👇 The pace of life here is completely different. And once you settle in… it just works. What’s actually different: ⏰ Life doesn’t feel rushed all the time Work matters, but it’s not your entire identity. Living in Walnut Creek makes you slow down and actually enjoy time with your family. 🌳 Evenings are for walks on the Iron Horse Trail, school sports at Heather Farm Park, or sitting outside with a glass of wine. Not just collapsing on the couch. 💼 Success here isn’t defined by titles or where you went to school. It’s more about how you live and enjoying each day. ☕ People are friendly, open, and genuinely neighborly Whether you’re grabbing coffee downtown or chatting at the farmers market, it’s not hurried or transactional — community is a real thing here. 🍷 Weeknight dinners on Main Street, Broadway Plaza shopping runs, or a quick hike up Mount Diablo are totally normal. Downtown Walnut Creek is always buzzing with an easy, elevated energy. ☀️ Living somewhere beautiful changes how your days feel Sunshine, open space, rolling hills, trails, and tree-lined neighborhoods, the lifestyle is contagious. The truth: I had no idea if Walnut Creek was going to be my forever home. But after being here for over 10 years, I couldn’t imagine living anywhere else. We didn’t lose ambition. We gained quality of life. Give it 6–12 months… Stop fighting the calmer rhythm. Let the lifestyle work for you. 📍 Comment GUIDE and I’ll share my East Bay Local Guide with you — including where to grab coffee, brunch spots, family-friendly parks, hidden trailheads, and what you should know before living here. 📲 DM me if you’re thinking about making a move to Walnut Creek, or if you’d like to start the process.
