They say home is where the heart is, but the bank account usually has a say too. ❤️ 🏦How much is enough?" 💸 🇮🇳 The truth is, there’s no magic number, but there is a formula. From lifestyle inflation to healthcare and private schools, the "Reverse ABCD" budget looks a lot different than it did 10 years ago. My numbers are based on the fact that I do not plan to downgrade my life after moving..in fact I would like to upgrade it further! What is your magic number? I've been living in India for 8 years now, and moving here was one of the best decisions I've ever made. When I first came to India in 2017, I knew nothing about the country's startup scene. I knew that India was famous for its food, its rich culture, its ancient history, but nobody told me how rapidly India had developed since the turn of the millennium. Nobody told me about all of the exciting things that were happening in Indian tech. I had to figure that out for myself. Even today, in 2025, I feel that many Indians are unaware of their own country's potential, and the most of the rest of the world is OBLIVIOUS to the unprecedented levels of innovation that are coming out of India, to the insane amount of passion with which Gen Z and Gen Alpha founders are building their startups. India has never witnessed this level of building before. With all of that said, while 2025 has been an incredible year for Indian tech, I'm confident 2026 is going to blow everything we've seen so far out of the water. Here's to India's bright future, and to proving the rest of the world wrong 🥂

Share with someone who is planning to move to India soon? These calculations assume a family of 4 moving to a Tier-1 city (Pune, Bangalore, Gurgaon, Hyderabad) with an upper middle-class lifestyle — comfortable, not luxury. A 3–4 BHK in a good gated society, decent interiors, one mid-segment SUV, domestic help, kids’ activities, and private school fees of ₹2–4L per child (non-IB). Returns assumed at 6–7%, and either one spouse earning or partial income from investments — not full early retirement.#nri #deshwaapisi #nring #indiansinusa #immigrantstories

A new door, a new beginning, and a home filled with love. 🏡✨ After 2 months of living in a service apartment, today we finally stepped into a space we can call our own. From moving countries to building a home again… this moment feels extra special. Life has been a journey but I’m so glad our dog days are over 💫 Leaving my grandma in India and moving to London was so hard, especially on my mum too 😢 But my parents sacrificed everything and moved here to give me a better life… and in return, all they wanted was for me to study, so I did 📝 We were living with cousins (who very kindly let us stay with them 🥹) then YMCA and then a council house initially. My dad worked 2 jobs for a long time and my mum also worked too, but their income < expenses, and we were really struggling. Seeing them argue over money daily had such a huge impact on me and that’s what motivated me to study as hard as I can and go into a high paying job. Skipping to now, I have nearly everything young me dreamed of and the only thing left is to retire them ✨🫶🏾 As delulu as it sounds, I do think this is the year I become rich rich, through either my business @streetorvintageco or content here taking off 🙏🏾 I will also have my 9-5 income too, so hopefully all these combined will be able to give my parents the soft life they very much deserve 🥰 Will be documenting the whole journey to retiring them so follow along 🤗 EDIT: I was called Hit**r because of my monobrow and moustache 😅 I did not live in/move from Germany Format credit: @jun_yuh

My friend is moving back to India 🇮🇳 after 10 years in America 🇺🇸 to take care of Parents. After years abroad, the hardest decision isn’t money or career — it’s family. If you were in this situation, what would you choose? 🇮🇳 Go back for parents 🌍 Stay abroad for future #NRIlife #MovingBackToIndia #IndiaCalling #DesiAbroad #indianabroad

There are 6 things every person must do if they will be moving outside India for work, studies or to spend their life as an NRI... 1/ Close your Savings Account with the bank and convert it to NRO and NRE account. An NRI is not allowed to hold a normal savings account. The NRE account is used to send money from outside India into India, and the NRO account is used to receive incomes from sources in India like FD interest, rent, etc on which tax is paid in India. 2/ You must change your KYC in your Mutual Fund folio to Non Resident... because the TDS and disclosure implications for NRIs is different... the same change also has to be made on the Income Tax portal. 3/ Issue a Power of Attorney in India to a trusted family member, who can then buy or sell assets or collect incomes on your behalf. For example, if you need to sell a house in India, a family member in India would need a Power of Attorney to enter into an Agreement to Sell. 4/ Obtain a Tax Residency Certificate (TRC) from your country of residence issued by that country’s tax authorities. This TRC must be filed along with Form 10F while filing your Indian Income Tax Return to ensure that you are not taxed on the same income in both countries. These two are mandatory to claim Double Taxation Avoidance Agreement (DTAA) benefits. 5/ Create a Will for all your assets in India, and get it registered so that all assets clearly have not just nominees but legal heirs, and there is no problem for your family members in accessing your properties in case of a mishap. 6/ Buy a Health Insurance policy that covers costs of at least Rs 50 Lakhs about 6 months before leaving India... this is because most Western economies have extremely long waiting periods to get a treatment, and NRIs end up coming to India a lot of times for healthcare. #casarthakahuja
