आज विधानसभा के पंचम सत्र में प्रश्नकाल के दौरान राष्ट्रीय खाद्य सुरक्षा अधिनियम (NFSA) से जुड़े अहम मुद्दों को सदन के पटल पर रखा। बाड़मेर में NFSA के अंतर्गत पात्र व अपात्र परिवारों तथा कई वास्तविक पात्र परिवारों के नाम सूची से वंचित रहने की शिकायतों पर सरकार की कार्रवाई को लेकर प्रश्न किए। साथ ही सार्वजनिक वितरण प्रणाली (PDS) के तहत वितरित खाद्य सामग्री की गुणवत्ता, निर्धारित मात्रा और जमीनी स्तर पर हो रही अनियमितताओं पर भी सरकार का ध्यान आकर्षित किया। शिव विधानसभा क्षेत्र के अनेक जरूरतमंद परिवार अब भी खाद्य सुरक्षा योजना से बाहर हैं। ऐसे सभी पात्र परिवारों का शीघ्र सर्वे कर उन्हें NFSA से जोड़े जाने की मांग रखी, ताकि उन्हें उनका मूलभूत अधिकार मिल सके। खाद्य सुरक्षा योजना गरीब और जरूरतमंद परिवारों के जीवन से सीधे जुड़ी है, इसलिए इसमें पारदर्शिता, शुद्धता और पात्रता का सही निर्धारण सुनिश्चित करना सरकार की सर्वोच्च जिम्मेदारी है।

Produced mechanically and in real time, the sound is direct, rhythmic and hard to ignore. Over decades, it has settled into daily life – a small but constant presence at intersections, train stations and busy streets. Most people don’t know this, but under the NFSA, many of these actions are punishable, and in some cases, you’re even eligible for a food security allowance. But this only works if you raise the issue on the correct portal. That’s why it’s important to know where and how to raise these issues. Every ration card holder has the right to report such problems, and the government has created a dedicated online portal to make the process easier. How to report ration-related issues quickly: - Go to nfsa.gov.in - Click Online Grievance - Select your state & district - Enter your details + ration card & FPS number - Select the issue (no stock, late opening, overcharging, corruption, etc.) - Add a short description - Upload photo/video proof - Submit the form However, it’s important to understand that this portal mainly collects grievances as feedback. If someone wishes to file a formal, official complaint that goes into the government’s central redressal system, then they must register it through the CPGRAMS portal, which has a separate step-by-step method. Everyone deserves fair access to their ration benefits. If more people use these mechanisms, FPS dealers will be held accountable and communities won’t have to suffer silently. If you know someone dealing with ration shop issues, share this information with them.

The National Food Security Act (NFSA), introduced by the UPA government in September 2013, was a landmark initiative aimed at ensuring food and nutritional security for the country’s 140 crore population. It played a crucial role in protecting millions of households from starvation, particularly during the COVID-19 crisis. This Act provided the basis for the Pradhan Mantri Garib Kalyan Anna Yojana. Under the NFSA, 75% of the rural population and 50% of the urban population are entitled to receive subsidized food grains. However, the quota for beneficiaries is still determined based on the 2011 Census. For the first time in independent India’s history, the Census has been delayed for more than four years. Originally scheduled for 2021, there is still no clarity on when it will be conducted. As a result, around 14 crore eligible Indians are being deprived of their rightful benefits under the NFSA.
