The Nikon AF Micro-Nikkor 60mm f/2.8 (non-D), produced from 1989 to 1993, is a highly respected classic macro lens.
It offers true 1:1 magnification, capturing insects, flowers, and small objects with remarkable detail. The f/2.8 aperture provides smooth background blur while keeping subjects sharp.
Compact and solidly built with a metal mount, it uses screwdrive autofocus, compatible with Nikon bodies that have internal motors. Being a non-D lens, it does not transmit distance information, so features like 3D matrix metering or i-TTL flash are unavailable, but optical performance is unaffected.
On DX (APS-C) cameras, it behaves like a 90mm short tele, making it versatile for close-up portraits or product photography. The creamy bokeh separates subjects effectively, and the lightweight design supports handheld shooting.
The later D version, introduced in 1993, added distance encoding for advanced metering and flash, yet the original non-D version remains popular among macro enthusiasts and collectors for its clarity, build quality, and classic performance.

This is a Nikkor 400mm 3.5 lens for Nikon cameras. It’s huge and heavy (and “massive” as I mentioned several times). It’s a manual focus lens but features a handful of convenient features, like a built-in lens hood, adjustable focus stops, and an adorable 39mm rear filter compartment. How neat!
