But no one’s out here saying you’re better at drinking water based on how you hold the cup! Yoga is the same. We practice it because it’s good for us—body, mind, and spirit. But the shape of your pose doesn’t make your practice more worthy than someone else’s. We often see handstands or advanced shapes and assume they mean someone is “better” at yoga. But yoga isn’t hierarchical. Some days, my practice is rest. Other days, it’s stillness, slow movement, or inversions. Sometimes, it’s a bit of everything. It’s not about what your practice looks like. It’s about how it meets you. How are you taking care of your needs? How do you show up for yourself on the mat? How are you speaking to yourself? How do you feel? Yoga invites us to be curious, compassionate, and present—not performative. It’s not about comparison. It’s about connection. Show up for you. Exactly as you are.
