Dynamic Stiffness — Why “k” is not a number In many NVH discussions, we often state: “Mount stiffness = 1000 N/mm.” This assumption is valid only in static or very low-frequency conditions. However, real systems do not operate in static conditions. 🔹 The reality: stiffness depends on frequency. In dynamic conditions, stiffness is complex and frequency-dependent: k(ω) = k′(ω) + j·k″(ω) Where: k′(ω) → storage stiffness (in-phase component) k″(ω) → loss stiffness (out-of-phase component) 🔹 What does this physically mean? - Storage (k′): behaves like a spring → stores energy - Loss (k″): behaves like damping → dissipates energy This leads to the conclusion that: Force and displacement are NOT in phase. En el video, la “reacción” de los distintos vehículos ante un vaso lleno de agua muestra el rendimiento NVH (ruido, vibración y aspereza) de cada uno. 📍 Entonces, ¿por qué ocurre esta diferencia en las vibraciones? Inercia y arranque inicial: cuando un pistón en reposo comienza a moverse de repente, se libera una enorme cantidad de energía. Cuánta de esa energía se transmite al chasis (y por tanto al vaso de agua) depende de la calidad de los soportes del motor y del aislamiento del vehículo. Configuración de cilindros y balance: el equilibrio natural de un motor de 4 cilindros es distinto al de motores en V o de 6 cilindros. Algunos motores amortiguan sus vibraciones internas mediante contrapesos, mientras que otros las transmiten directamente al exterior.
