SII usually see Camellias pruned to the shape of a bun. Trimming the outside branches which creates a dense ball that often looks out of place in a naturalistic garden. Thats what had been done to this Camellia. I like to open them up, removing lower branches, thinning the canopy and leaving just a handful of the best stems. This creates a shrub thats allows diverse plantings to grow underneath and looks at home in the naturalistic garden. I often do this with existing shrubs in gardens I am designing and adapting. What are your thoughts on this?
Pruning is an artwork I do love and enjoy. Thinking about how our actions will effect the plants growth overtime and effect the life of the plants around it.
