My daughter has hEDS which affects her legs and the way she walks. For 12 months she has been left without splints. Multiple appointments, multiple pairs of splints made incorrectly multiple injuries and multiple failings by the service that is meant to support her. But today we went in the hope that this would be the moment she finally got them back. Because when you're disabled, aids are so much more than aids. They are safety, confidence, they mean less pain and more ability. TODAY SHE GOT HER SPLINTS BACK 🙌 and in the words of Immy "I'm like Barbie, I've got plastic legs" 🤣 So here's to the start of life with better mobility, less pain and more confidence. [2.5M views on TT!!] I’ve wait several weeks to make this video because I wanted to spend a couple of weeks using the orthotics every day before I even considered recommending them to others. And let me tell you…I love them!! They’ve gotta be the most comfortable and most perfectly shaped orthotics I’ve ever worn. I’d never had custom orthotics made from an impression made at-home, and they totally blew my expectations out of the water🤯 First off, normally you have to cut orthotics when you receive them because they’re too big to fit in your shoes with all the excess material. But since you literally make a mold of your feet with these, Upstep can make your orthotics a perfect match. But honestly more importantly - the design/function of the orthotics!! When you order your orthotics, you input information about your common physical activities and foot health/history. My biggest foot health issue is that I have a permanent left big toe injury from a freak ninja warrior accident that happened in the summer of 2018. Given that and the fact that I walk 10-15k steps/day, I keep my toes working hard 😂 But the custom orthotics I received were expertly designed specifically to take pressure off of my left big toe, and they work like a charm. I can’t believe how good they feel, and it gets me so excited just talking about it. More common foot health issues Upstep and their team of podiatrists address include plantar fasciitis, bunions, metatarsalgia, heel pain, toe pain, etc. As a note, if you have any foot pain at all, please please first and foremost get proper footwear with a WIDE toe box that enables your toes to fully spread out. This will help resolve so so many issues, as the “standard American shoe” has a narrow toe box that compresses your toes and causes unnecessary pain and stress to your foot. But pain relief does not automatically mean the tissue is healing. Plantar fasciitis is usually a load problem, not a flexibility problem. When the demands placed on the foot exceed what the tissue can tolerate, pain shows up. The long-term solution isn’t doing more passive treatments. It’s rebuilding the foot’s capacity so it can tolerate load again. That’s why strength, progression, and timing matter.
