A new discovery in Italy found wild bacteria eating PFAS. Those nearly indestructible chemicals found in nonstick pans, stain resistant fabrics, and fast food wrappers that heretofore have taken centuries to break down in the environment. It’s the first real world sign that the planet might be able to fight back.
This isn’t a get out of jail free card for industry. These chemicals still build up in our blood and disrupt hormones. But it’s a reason for hope and a reminder that nature might actually hold the key to breaking these compounds down in a way the human body hasn’t been able to.
In the meantime, protect yourself. Filter your water. Filter your air. Watch what touches your food. But pay attention because change might come from the soil beneath our feet.

今の分析技術はとても精密なので、健康に影響がないとされる極めて微量な量でも「検出」と表示されます。大事なのは、その数値が「基準の範囲内かどうか」です。

一番確実なのは、自分たちが住んでいる自治体の「水道局ホームページ」を見ること。最新の検査数値が公開されているので、自分の目で確かめるのが一番の安心に繋がります。
