PAWhen you're just getting started with stand up paddleboarding, there's a lot to take in. From how to inflate your board to where to stand and how to hold your paddle. Here are few common mistakes and how to avoid them ⬇️
🌊 Before you start inflating your board, make sure the pin is up in your inflatable valve to stop the air coming back out.
🌊 Inflate your board to the recommended pressure. It may be written as PSI on your board or on the valve.
🌊 Keep the blade angled away from you so that the slope is facing forwards. You can add a sticker to the side facing you to remind you.
🌊 A good rule of thumb is to set your paddle height so the handle is around 6-8 inches above your head. Place it on the floor then adjust as needed.
🌊 Make sure you're in deep enough water in case you fall in. Sit down on your board and place your paddle in the water to check how deep it is. Aim for waist depth.
🌊 Keep your feet in the middle of the board either side of the grab handle. This will help keep you stable.
🌊 And don't forget to keep your legs loose. A bend at the knee will stop you from wobbling and absorb movement.
