This video shows a baby being directly fed cows milk, not boiled, unpasteurised. There was a time when due to lack of access to formula babies were fed cows milk but that too boiled. This is not a healthy practice. And purpose of sharing this video is not yo shame anyone any cultural practice but to open a healthy dialogue to ensure safe practices for our babies. Effects of raw cow milk on babies are: Raw milk can contain pathogenic organisms because it is not heat-treated: Common pathogens • Salmonella • E. coli (especially O157:H7) • Listeria monocytogenes • Campylobacter • Brucella (in endemic regions) Effects in infants • Severe gastroenteritis (vomiting, diarrhea, dehydration) • Sepsis • Meningitis (especially Listeria) • Hemolytic uremic syndrome (HUS) → acute kidney injury • Can be life-threatening, especially <1 year 👉 Infants have immature immunity → higher risk of invasive disease ⸻ 2. Nutritional & physiological risks Even if infection didn’t occur, raw cow’s milk is inappropriate: a) High renal solute load • Excess protein, sodium, potassium • Leads to dehydration and renal stress b) Iron deficiency anemia • Very low iron content • Can cause occult intestinal blood loss c) Poor digestibility • High casein → harder to digest → GI discomfort d) Inadequate micronutrient profile • Deficient in: • Vitamin C • Vitamin E • Essential fatty acids ⸻ 3. Allergy risk • Early exposure to intact cow’s milk protein may increase risk of: • Cow’s milk protein allergy (CMPA) • GI bleeding, eczema, colic ⸻ 4. Official recommendations WHO / IAP / AAP • No cow’s milk (raw or processed) before 1 year • After 1 year → only pasteurized milk • <6 months → exclusive breastfeeding • If not possible → infant formula (safe alternative) Comment below if you agree with WHO or such practices, and please do not come with accusations.. but scientific science based studies or data.#parentingtips #parenting #newparents #baby #paediatrics

This process happens through muscle strengthening and sensory stimulation, shaping brain structure for optimal survival and growth. The first step is strengthening the back and neck muscles, which begins when the neck and lumbar reflexes are triggered during birth. Passing through the birth canal remodels the skull, stretches the spine, and prepares the body for the outside world — allowing the baby to perform the breast crawl, a vital survival reflex. For the first three months, the Moro reflex further activates these muscles. Proper carriage techniques, which we cover in our videos, play a key role. Babies also push naturally with their arms and legs, which can be encouraged through grasping, lifting, and leg-pushing exercises. Suction (through feeding) is essential for resetting the skull and oro-facial structures. By four months, babies typically roll onto their stomach, using back, pelvis, and leg strength-marking the start of exploration. Around three months, the wheelbarrow exercise - where they support their upper body while you hold their legs — helps build arm, shoulder, back, and neck strength, making it easier to hold their head up. By five months, babies should support themselves on their hands for 15-20 seconds while you hold their legs. Around this time, they also start doing crunches, strengthening their core and developing the ability to hold their head backward. Preparation • Ensure indication (respiratory failure, airway protection, anesthesia). • Check and arrange equipment: • Laryngoscope (preferably straight blade – Miller in infants) • Appropriate ET tube size • Formula: (Age/4) + 4 (uncuffed) • (Age/4) + 3.5 (cuffed) • Stylet (if needed), suction, bag-valve-mask, oxygen • Preoxygenate with 100% O₂ (3–5 min if possible) • Attach monitors: SpO₂, HR 2. Positioning • Infants: Neutral position (large occiput → avoid flexion) • Older child: “Sniffing position” • Place towel under shoulders in infants if needed 3. Pre-medication (if planned/intubation not emergency) • Atropine (to prevent bradycardia) • Sedative (e.g., ketamine, midazolam) • Muscle relaxant (e.g., succinylcholine/rocuronium) 4. Laryngoscopy • Hold laryngoscope in left hand • Insert blade from right side of mouth, sweep tongue to left • Advance blade: • Miller blade: lift epiglottis directly • Macintosh blade: place in vallecula • Lift upward and forward (avoid levering on teeth) • Visualize vocal cords 5. Endotracheal Tube Insertion • Pass ET tube through vocal cords under vision • Depth: • Approx: (Age/2) + 12 cm (oral) • Remove stylet (if used) • Inflate cuff (if cuffed tube used) 6. Confirmation of Placement • Gold standard: End-tidal CO₂ (capnography) • Bilateral chest rise • Equal air entry on auscultation • No gastric sounds • Improvement in SpO₂ 7. Securing Tube • Fix ET tube with tape or tube holder • Note depth at teeth/lips • Reconfirm position after securing 8. Post-intubation Care • Connect to ventilator or bag • Monitor vitals continuously • Chest X-ray to confirm position (tip at T2–T3) #skills #explore #emergency #paediatrics #fyp
