💡 Positive signs for Pakistan’s economy! According to the IT Ministry, Pakistan’s ICT exports have grown by nearly 20% in the first seven months of FY 2025–26, reaching $2.61 billion — and that’s a big deal. In January 2026 alone, IT services exports totaled $374 million, significantly higher than last year. This growth reflects the strength of software development, outsourcing, and freelancing sectors — with thousands of young professionals contributing to the global tech economy. If Pakistan continues to improve payments systems, strengthen infrastructure, and focus on high-value tech services, the IT sector could play an even bigger role in driving economic growth. What do you think is the next big step for Pakistan’s tech economy? Share your thoughts below! #pakistantech #softwareexports #economicgrowth #ictindustry #pakistaninnovation

Pakistan currently operates within a narrow framework of "shallow" trade agreements that lack the modern provisions for services and investment found in more integrated economies like Malaysia or Turkey. This limited connectivity, combined with high domestic production costs, has caused exports to stagnate at just 10% of GDP, leaving nearly $60 billion in potential trade untapped. Since 2003, however, Pakistan’s strategic shift toward Free and Preferential Trade Agreements has successfully catalysed a multi-billion dollar expansion in bilateral trade volumes, most notably seen in a fourfold increase with China and a sevenfold surge with Indonesia. To bridge the $60 billion export gap identified by the World Bank, Pakistan must now implement strategic shifts based on successful international precedents. First, the government must synchronise trade deals with targeted industrial reform, aligning new pacts with domestic efforts to lower energy costs and incentivize high-potential sectors like pharmaceuticals and auto parts, mirroring the Vietnam Model where trade liberalisation was strictly paired with Doi Moi industrial reforms to build a global electronics hub. Second, Pakistan must aggressively diversify into high-value services by leveraging international legal frameworks like the WTO Services Waiver, similar to the Cambodia Case Study where the country used its status to make commitments in 97 service sub-sectors to reduce textile dependency. Finally, the state should adopt performance-based commercial diplomacy where foreign missions and ambassadors are evaluated through a "Commercial Scorecard" based on meeting specific export and investment targets, following the successful Turkey and South Korea Model where the foreign service acts as a proactive commercial force. #EmpoweringPakistanWithData #OICCIPakistan #Trade #Tariffs #Uraan
