RA🌾 Parable of the Sower by Octavia Butler 🌾
This books opens to the year 2024 and is a startling dystopian projection of our future. It is wildly heavy and pulls zero punches. Despite the loaded content, I had difficulty putting it down because the pacing and plot were sharp and engaging.
Octavia Butler is my current all time favorite author. She is able to get to the most profound truths of humanity without bogging her writing down with overly abstract or pompous language.
The characters and setting are exquisite and complex. I can’t wait to see where their stories go in the sequel. Lauren is beyond captivating. Every step of her journey is rich and impactful.
This is not a story I expected to walk away loving at much as I did. I’m sure this will be a series I come back to in thoughts and conversations for a long long time.
