DRSomething that genuinely frustrates me in the wellness space is how often we’re handed a binary choice. Carbs or protein. HIIT or lifting. Sprints or zone two. Pick a side. It’s hype and it’s wrong.
Our bodies don’t actually work that way. They work in nuanced systems, and those systems need variety to function well. Strength and endurance. Power and recovery. Carbohydrates and protein. The ”or” is almost always the wrong framing.
The issue was never that one method is bad. It’s when we start treating a single tool like it’s the whole toolbox. That’s where progress stalls, and where a lot of unnecessary confusion tends to live too.
Balance gets written off as the boring, middle-of-the-road answer. In my experience, it’s usually the most intelligent and the most effective one.

After years of full-time travel, I’ve learned the hard way what never deserves a spot in my suitcase - no matter where I’m headed.
Here are 10 things you can confidently leave at home 👇
❌ A different outfit for every day
Pick a simple color palette and mix pieces together. Nobody is tracking your outfits - and even if they are, you’ll never see them again.
❌ Full-size toiletries
They leak, they’re heavy, and TSA may take them. Bring travel sizes or buy what you need when you arrive.
❌ More than 3 pairs of shoes
One for walking, one for beach or pool, one that dresses up. That’s it.

❌ A beach towel
It eats half your bag and dries forever. Most places provide towels, or you can grab one cheaply there.
❌ “Just in case” stuff

One solid crossbody or anti-theft bag does the job. No one cares if it matches every outfit.
❌ Jewelry you’d be upset to lose
Leave valuables at home. I travel with simple basics and never worry about them.
❌ A stack of cash
Use an ATM when you arrive. Better rates, safer, and easier than carrying a wad of money around. Pro tip: get a bank account/atm card with good rates that refunds all fees, like Charles Schwab.
❌ A hair dryer
Bulky, awkward, and rarely worth it. Hotels and Airbnbs usually have one, and if not, you’ll survive.
❌ Too many gadgets and chargers
You probably need your phone, one charger, a universal adapter, and maybe a Kindle. You do not need to pack the electronics aisle.
