I LOVE Pilates, but the biggest misconception is this idea of a “Pilates Body” coming without weightlifting and proper nutrition. I combine Pilates and weights to see the best results. Usually 3 Pilates workouts and 3 weight lifting workouts a week right now is serving me the best. And 2 of those Pilates are megaformer on heavy weighted machines. I was only able to get the most out of Pilates once I built my strength. Every time I go to Pilates I get asked where I go and how I built so much strength. It was in the gym ….. and in the kitchen. If you want to build the muscle, make sure you are eating to support it. NO MATTER WHAT MOVEMENT YOU DO, you will never get the results unless you eat in a way that supports body recomp, aka building muscle and lowering body fat + inflammation. What you eat is what makes this possible, your movement compliments it.
