NEA tiny moon hidden within the rings of Saturn is offering scientists a striking example of how small celestial bodies can shape their surroundings. Pan, a moon measuring about 28 kilometers across, orbits inside the Encke Gap, a narrow opening within Saturn’s vast ring system. Its gravity helps keep this gap clear by pulling in and redistributing nearby ice and dust particles as it travels through the rings.
Images captured by the Cassini–Huygens spacecraft revealed that Pan has a distinctive equatorial ridge that gives it a shape often compared to a piece of ravioli. Scientists believe the ridge formed over millions of years as particles from Saturn’s rings slowly accumulated around the moon’s equator. The discovery highlights the dynamic relationship between Saturn’s moons and its rings, showing how even a small moon like Pan can both influence the structure of the rings and be shaped by the material surrounding it.

Naukowcy przypuszczają, że TOI-1452 b może być pokryta globalnym oceanem o głębokości setek, a nawet tysięcy kilometrów — bez żadnych kontynentów czy lądu.
Pod gigantyczną warstwą wody mogą znajdować się egzotyczne warstwy lodu powstałe nie przez niską temperaturę, lecz przez ekstremalne ciśnienie wywołane ciężarem oceanu. To środowisko całkowicie inne od wszystkiego, co znamy na Ziemi.
TOI-1452 b znajduje się również w tzw. strefie zamieszkiwalnej swojej gwiazdy, gdzie temperatura może pozwalać na istnienie ciekłej wody.
