This is bissap, also known as hibiscus, a plant native to West Africa and deeply rooted in everyday life and tradition across countries like Senegal, Mali, Gambia and Guinea. Recognizable by its vibrant red calyces, hibiscus is used to produce a natural infusion appreciated for generations for its refreshing taste, intense color and natural richness in antioxidants and vitamin C, and it’s also widely valued for its cardiovascular benefits. At MOM KOUMBA, we begin exactly here: with the real plant and its authentic infusion. From this ancestral base, we have developed Bissap Energy Juice, a modern and functional beverage that respects its origin while enhancing it with caffeine, electrolytes and vitamin C, and because it’s zero sugar and zero calories, it delivers clean energy without the heavy crash. A new kind of energy drink inspired by tradition, designed for today. From Africa to the world 🌍 This is tradition. This is energy. This is MOM KOUMBA. #bissap #africandrink #africanfood #hibiscus #flordejamaica

In 2026, when insect populations are dropping at a rate that is honestly terrifying, it’s more important now than ever before to plant native. Eastern monarch populations are down 80% and Western monarchs are down even worse, at nearly 99%. If we don’t change our ways and try to help these insects, then their native populations will almost certainly be wiped out in the next few decades. Why is it so important for individual houses to plant native? Well, it’s important because even if your neighbors are lame and don’t plant native, your house will act like a point of respite for insects as they roam the neighborhood. Having little “islands” of native plants for food and host plants amongst a barren monoculture landscape is essential for migrating insects, like monarch butterflies. #animals #butterflies #gardening #nature #wildlife

All monarchs aren’t meant to be saved. Wait, what!? .. Less than 10% of wild monarch butterfly eggs survive to reach adulthood, with some studies estimating as low as 2%. They’re an important part of the ecosystem including prey and hosts for other native species. To compensate, each female lays 300-500 eggs during their life! .. Our main focus is on habitat protection and pesticide reduction and we work each year with NYC Parks and NYC DOT to get more and more areas protected at least for the pollinator spring to fall season. Our other focus is to inspire others to PLANT NATIVE and add native milkweed gardens. .. As you’ve seen, there are a lot of struggles……and heartbreaks - but they’re worth the effort. We hope you’ve continued to learn a lot and be inspired (And entertained 😅) each day through our daily stories. LOVE YOU GUYS! .. #monarchrecoveryprojectNYC #plantnative #savethemonarchs #monarchbutterfly

Coralberry, or Symphoricarpos orbiculatus, is a plant native to much of central and eastern North America. It gets 2 to 4 feet tall and can be 4 feet wide overtime. It can sucker and get wider. After year three, you could prune it down to the ground every year to keep it nice and low and compact. The flowers aren’t anything exciting, but they are great pollinators for native bees, and the leaves are host plants for lots of caterpillars, including the caterpillar of the hummingbird moth! The berries and fall and winter are excellent food sources for birds like robins. The berries are mildly toxic to humans of consumed in large amounts. They are also toxic to fish and Native Americans use that to their advantage by soaking lots of berries in rivers and lakes to Poison the fish so the fish would pop up to the surface to be harvested. Deer love to browse on this shrub. I can’t always respond to comments so for those of you that are experienced gardeners, please jump in and help as much as you can. I am a Garden Coach located in the northwest suburbs of Chicago. I do on-site sessions right in your garden if you live in the Chicagoland area. Click the link in my bio to learn more. Wasabia Japonica, better known as wasabi, is a plant native to Japan that is harvested for its lumpy rhizome, which is predominately used as a popular sushi condiment. It is difficult to grow and takes up to two or three years to mature. Though wasabi paste is an internationally acclaimed sushi condiment, due to its cost, it is estimated that only 5% of the restaurants use fresh wasabi, while the rest opt for a much cheaper combination of grated horseradish and green food coloring, or various alternatives prepared with dry wasabi powder. #tasteatlas #wasabi

Meet guarana. A plant native to the Amazon and one of the most concentrated natural sources of energy on the planet. Here’s why we added it to our Graymatter formula: ☕ It’s not just caffeine Compounds work alongside the caffeine to enhance its stimulant effect, meaning a more sustained release of energy rather than a sharp spike. ⚡Reduced fatigue, improved alertness People notice the difference quickly… less mental slowdown, sharper focus, and the ability to stay switched on longer without forcing it. 🧠 Long-term cognitive support Beyond energy, guarana has been studied for its role in learning and memory. It’s not just keeping you awake, it’s supporting the brain’s ability to actually perform while you are. That’s why it’s one of the 27 plant-based ingredients inside Graymatter Bright Mind. Every ingredient has a reason. This one earns its place. Graymatter Bright Mind is available now on our website 🧠
