5TOwner of Munchy's Grill Attacked & Robbed, Suspects Linked to Prior Incident
Following 5TC reports earlier today of an assault in Cedarhurst, our dear friend Yair Jacobs, the owner of Munchy's Grill, shared with us the following update:
"This morning, I experienced a distressing incident that I feel compelled to share as a warning for our community. Last night, around 6:45 PM, two young men entered Munchy’s Grill—one with a wooden baseball bat and the other with a large pair of scissors. Realizing that they were outnumbered by customers and staff members. They pretended to order food but ultimately said they didn't have their wallet and left without paying.
This morning: as I approached my car in Cedarhurst, a black 4 door BMW struck me, pinning me against my vehicle. One suspect pretended to be intoxicated as he approached me. He grabbed my phone and demanded my wallet and my watch. One of the suspects got very violent with me and I had no choice but to defend myself, I managed to hold down one of the suspects and pull off his wig, confirming he was indeed the same individual from the restaurant. Realizing he can't fight me. He claimed to have a gun, that's when I decided to give over the watch. He then took out a pepper spray instead. Despite being sprayed, they fled away in the car. Unfortunately,they stole my tefillin and my new iPhone 17s.
The police department responded swiftly, actively working to apprehend these suspects, who were last seen in a four-door BMW with stolen Pennsylvania plates.
I urge everyone to remain vigilant. The suspects are two Black males, likely in their early 20s, skinny, and approximately 6 feet tall. This incident occurred just down the block from Cedarhurst Park around 11:30 AM.
I want to extend my gratitude to Hazalah and the Nassau Police Department for their quick response. If you observe any suspicious activity, please report it. Together, we can keep our community safe!
More videos of the suspect will be released as soon as we are able to connect both suspects from Munchy's to this morning's event."

FODashcam footage captured the moment a surprised garbage collector discovered a man hiding inside a trash bin during a police pursuit.
The suspect's attempt to evade authorities ended abruptly after he was discovered inside the container following a brief foot chase. The Huber Heights Police Department arrested the man on Monday, Feb. 23, after he initially fled from a vehicle during a traffic stop in Ohio.

Is Phoenix lowering the standards for police officers?
The city of Phoenix has been fighting to fill an understaffed police department (currently around ~600 officers) for more than a decade. Nothing the city has done has worked and there's no sign of it improving. It's also draining the city financially. Phoenix spent 98 million in 2025 in overtime due to the officer shortage..
Phoenix Police Chief Matt Giordano, who recently became the police chief under Phoenix Democrat Mayor @mayorkategallego, admits Phoenix used to "find ways to say no" to new recruits, but now "they're finding ways to say yes".
But is that the right approach? Is Phoenix throwing in the towel just to meet their recruiting goals?
Chief Giordano also mentioned the city needs to look at "all walks of life, all members of the community, and hire holistically" potentially alluding to DEI hiring
Phoenix shouldn't have to find ways to say "yes". Phoenix deserves to return to the days of thousands of applicants who want to work for Phoenix.
The people of Phoenix will have their chance to weigh-in next November when voters will elect 4 of the 8 city council district representatives.
