Please read before you miss out on this efficient path🙏 The traditional path to medicine feels like this: High school → college → MCAT → apply → hope. For many students, that means years of uncertainty. But there’s another route — one that starts earlier. Combined BA/MD and BS/MD programs allow students to secure their medical school seat directly out of high school. That’s how I started medical school at 18. And became a physician at 24. This wasn’t about: ❌ Family connections ❌ Thousands of volunteer hours ❌ Being “the smartest” student It was about learning the options early — and preparing intentionally. These programs are competitive. But the real disadvantage isn’t intelligence. It’s awareness. Students who don’t know this pathway exists can’t prepare for it in time. That’s why sophomore and junior year matter so much. ✨ Comment “DOCTOR” if you’re a high school student (or parent of one) who wants to explore whether a direct-entry pathway to medical school could be realistic for you and apply for mentorship. *if you don’t see a message reply it may be due to your settings so in that case DM me the word instead* #premed #futuredoctor #medicalschooladmissions #bsmd #bamd highschoolpremed acceleratemd premedjourney physicianmentor

1) Olympic-Level Athlete I have literally seen applicants who competed at the Olympics or at a national elite level in their sport. Even if it is not the Olympics, being at that high level shows insane discipline, time management, and resilience. Med schools know you cannot fake that kind of long term commitment. 2) Working with Incarcerated Populations Some applicants spent years volunteering or working inside prisons or with formerly incarcerated individuals. That kind of experience exposes you to complex social and health inequities that most premeds never see. It shows maturity, empathy, and a willingness to work with underserved communities in a very real way. 3) Chef or Catering Business Owner I have seen people who were professional chefs or started their own catering businesses before medicine. Running a food business takes leadership, customer service skills, and the ability to perform under pressure. It also makes for amazing interview stories because it is so different from the typical research assistant path. 4) Years of Industry Experience as an Engineer or Computer Scientist Some applicants worked full time in tech or engineering for years before applying. That depth of industry experience shows problem solving, teamwork, and real world accountability. It also brings a totally different perspective to medicine, especially with how important technology is becoming in healthcare. 5) Content Creator Yes, I have seen serious content creators with large platforms apply to med school. Building an audience requires communication skills, consistency, and the ability to explain complex ideas clearly. When done thoughtfully, it can show leadership and impact beyond your immediate circle. At the end of the day, do not just copy these. Unique does not automatically mean good or bad, it just helps you stand out from a sea of similar applications. These are just examples to show how creative you can be with extracurriculars. The best activities are the ones you are genuinely interested in, even if you have never heard of anyone else doing something like that before. #premed #premedstudent #premedadvice #mcat #medicalschool

SAVE for later 💫 1. Don’t stand in the wrong spot * Sounds small, but it’s huge * Never block the computer, doorway, or patient’s personal space * If you’re unsure → stand slightly behind and to the side of the physician 2. Don’t ask questions at the wrong time * Asking questions is GOOD… bad timing is not * Never interrupt during: * patient speaking * sensitive conversations * Write it down → ask after 3. Introduce yourself (but keep it short) * Don’t just stand there silently * Simple:“Hi, I’m a student shadowing today” * Then stop talking 😅 4. Control your reactions * You WILL see uncomfortable things * No: * shocked faces * awkward laughter * “omg” expressions 5. Don’t act like you know everything * Even if you’ve studied it * Avoid correcting, over-explaining, or trying to impress 6. Know when to be invisible vs engaged * Some moments → ask, learn, engage * Other moments → just observe quietly 7. Respect patient privacy HARD * Don’t look at screens unless told * Don’t repeat anything outside (Study, school, university, college, exam, schedule, aesthetic, stationery, mbbs, doctor, medlife, medical, explore, trending, viral bestie motivation productivity) #study #med #womeninmedicine #medstudentlife #premed

I used to be really bad for this in premed — I wouldn’t go to bed until everything was done and perfect. I’d leave things to the last minute, obsess over every detail, and convince myself sleep was something I had to earn. Most nights I’d fall asleep around 5 a.m. and wake up at 1, and it showed — in my skin, my face, my energy, my happiness. I told myself I wouldn’t let that happen in med school. And most of the time I don’t. But sometimes it still happens. You have more to do than you expected, you didn’t get the sleep you planned the night before, you realize you’re less prepared than you thought, or the material is harder than you imagined. And suddenly you’re back in that space … exhausted, wired, and negotiating with yourself about whether you’re allowed to rest. Sleep isn’t supposed to be something you earn, but when you care this much, it can start to feel that way. It’s normal, just don’t stay there too long 🫶🫶 #study #studymotivation #premed #tired

You never see the full story on social media. I recognize the future looks grim for aspiring doctors. The point is that people often only see the outcome, not the process. We all face struggles on this path. And unfortunately that will never change for this profession. For one, I almost became a pharmacist instead! I wish I could show you the nights self-doubt consumed me. The mean comments that laughed at my goals. The times when my personal life struggles lured me to quitting medicine. If you’re questioning whether you belong in medicine, I did too. If you’re wondering whether you’re made for this, I wasn’t sure either. So you’ll just have to take my word for it when I say this: your self-doubt does not eliminate you. Your doubt is evidence of how deeply you want this and how much you deserve it. This is for the underdogs in medicine. You know who you are. Thank you to the National Health Service Corp for funding my education 🤍 #premed #medstudent #doctor #medicine #firstgen
