Stats that got me into a Top 20 medical school 👇 📚 MCAT: 520 🎓 GPA: 4.0 🏥 Clinical: 280 hours 🤝 Volunteering: 260 hours 👥 Leadership: 1200 hours 🩺 Shadowing: 75 hours 🔬 Research: 2200 hours 🎤 Oral presentations: 2 📊 Posters: 2 📄 Publications: 0 ⏳ Gap years: 0 But here’s the truth most pre-meds don’t hear: stats alone don’t get you accepted. Admissions committees care just as much about: • Your story and motivation for medicine • How you reflect on your experiences • Your school list strategy • How early you submit your application I’ve seen strong applicants get rejected every year simply because of poor application strategy. If you’re applying to medical school and want honest feedback on your application, feel free to reach out. #premed #medschool #futuredoctor #premedstudent #medstudent

I knew the only thing going to get me out of my situation was my brain. And I studied my ass off while working 2 jobs in high school. Taking every AP class I could, working doubles on the weekend. I knew I was meant for more- so I studied like it. I sold plasma in college to pay for groceries, but I was at every office hour I could make. The sacrifice was worth it 10x over. 1) Olympic-Level Athlete I have literally seen applicants who competed at the Olympics or at a national elite level in their sport. Even if it is not the Olympics, being at that high level shows insane discipline, time management, and resilience. Med schools know you cannot fake that kind of long term commitment. 2) Working with Incarcerated Populations Some applicants spent years volunteering or working inside prisons or with formerly incarcerated individuals. That kind of experience exposes you to complex social and health inequities that most premeds never see. It shows maturity, empathy, and a willingness to work with underserved communities in a very real way. 3) Chef or Catering Business Owner I have seen people who were professional chefs or started their own catering businesses before medicine. Running a food business takes leadership, customer service skills, and the ability to perform under pressure. It also makes for amazing interview stories because it is so different from the typical research assistant path. 4) Years of Industry Experience as an Engineer or Computer Scientist Some applicants worked full time in tech or engineering for years before applying. That depth of industry experience shows problem solving, teamwork, and real world accountability. It also brings a totally different perspective to medicine, especially with how important technology is becoming in healthcare. 5) Content Creator Yes, I have seen serious content creators with large platforms apply to med school. Building an audience requires communication skills, consistency, and the ability to explain complex ideas clearly. When done thoughtfully, it can show leadership and impact beyond your immediate circle. At the end of the day, do not just copy these. Unique does not automatically mean good or bad, it just helps you stand out from a sea of similar applications. These are just examples to show how creative you can be with extracurriculars. The best activities are the ones you are genuinely interested in, even if you have never heard of anyone else doing something like that before. #premed #premedstudent #premedadvice #mcat #medicalschool

Every premed around me was doing the same thing. Grinding the GPA, grinding the MCAT, collecting hours. I did all of that too. But so did thousands of other applicants who didn’t get in. What nobody talks about is that healthcare is a $4 trillion industry with collapsing physician practices, broken incentives, and a workforce that was never taught how any of it works. Adcoms aren’t just looking for someone who wants to heal people. They’re looking for someone who actually understands the world they’re walking into. That one shift in how I thought about medicine, I genuinely believe, is what made my application impossible to ignore. If you want to learn how to think about medicine at that level, follow. That’s exactly what I’m here to teach #Premed #premedstudent #mcat #premedlife #medicalschool

I didn’t have a long list of options. I had three shots. People see “no loans” and assume undergrad was easy. What they don’t see is the tradeoff. Scholarships covered school, but premed didn’t leave room to work, to save, to build a safety net. So when it came time to apply, I had just enough for three applications. That was it. No cushion. No extras. Just pressure to make each one count. So I chose the path that gave me a real chance. The one some people question. The one that isn’t always understood. Ross wasn’t the popular answer. It was the certain one. And I can live with that decision. Because I’m not sitting here wondering what could have been. I’m living what I prayed for. Sometimes it’s not about the perfect route. It’s about choosing the one that actually gets you there. #premed #medstudent #medicalschool #doctor #premedstudent

If you’ve ever thought, “Maybe one more degree will do it,” this is your sign 😭 I finished my bachelor’s. Then my master’s & two graduate certificates. And somehow… I still said, “You know what would be fun? Medical school.” Premeds really are built different. But here’s what no one talks about in the premed journey: It’s not about loving stress. It’s not about collecting degrees. It’s not about proving you’re “smart enough.” It’s about purpose. Every premed class. Every late night studying. Every MCAT breakdown. Every application season doubt. It builds something in you. And if you’re on the medical school path right now — overwhelmed, second guessing, wondering if you’re doing “too much” to get into med school — hear me clearly: You’re not crazy. You’re committed. Getting into medical school isn’t about who never struggled. It’s about who kept going. If you’re navigating: • premed coursework • GPA repair • post-bacc or master’s programs • medical school applications • MCAT prep • choosing between MD vs DO • building a competitive med school application You’re in the right place. I share real strategies, real systems, and real guidance on how to get into medical school — without fluff. Follow @anatomywithjoyce if you’re serious about becoming a doctor and want structure, clarity, and strategy on your premed journey. Now I want to know 👇 How many degrees deep are you right now? Comment below if you’re in this with me. Serious premeds build systems early. Be one of them. #premedlife #medicalschooljourney #futuredoctor #premedstudent #medschoolapplications

1. Starting Something You Actually Care About Starting a club, nonprofit, initiative, or small community project around something you genuinely care about is way more impressive than joining ten random things. It shows initiative, leadership, and that you can build something from nothing. Admissions committees value ownership and long term commitment way more than passive participation. 2. EMT, Medical Assistant, or Other Hands On Clinical Jobs Working as an EMT, MA, CNA, or scribe gives you real patient exposure instead of just standing in a hospital hallway. You learn how healthcare actually functions and you deal with people when they are stressed, sick, or vulnerable. That kind of maturity shows up in interviews in a way that basic volunteering does not. 3. Varsity Athlete or High Level Competitive Sports Being a varsity athlete or competing at a high level shows discipline, time management, and resilience without you even having to say it. Balancing intense training with academics proves you can handle pressure. It also makes you stand out because not every premed can say they competed at that level. 4. Working a Regular Job Long Term Having a consistent part time job in retail, food service, tutoring, or anything non medical is extremely underrated. It shows responsibility, humility, and the ability to work with all kinds of personalities. Schools know that real world work experience builds people skills in a way some campus clubs do not. 5. Non Medical or Unique Academic Backgrounds Coming from computer science, engineering, business, music, philosophy, or art makes you different in a good way. Medicine needs people who can think across disciplines, understand systems, communicate clearly, and approach problems creatively. A unique background shows you are not just following the traditional pre med script. Disclaimer: Ultimately, you should do what is genuinely interesting to you. You do not need to chase what sounds impressive on paper. The best way to improve your application is to commit deeply to things you actually care about, because that authenticity is what really stands out. #premed #premedstudent #medschool #premedadvice #mcat

➡️ Comment “JOURNEY” to register for my Free Premed Workshop - where I’ll show you the EXACT essays, strategies, and tips I used to successfully apply and earn 10 med school acceptances ...so you can learn what matters most in helping you *stand out* and have a successful application cycle yourself! 💫 Honestly, there are SO many different paths to medical school! My journey included: → an undecided major until my sophomore year → 5 C’s in undergrad → constant self doubt → 4 gap years → having to retake the MCAT because my first score expired → applying twice → wasting tons of money because I was so clueless about the process → gaining clinical experience as an EMT → the list goes on! ⁣ ⁣ Most importantly though I Did. Not. Give. Up 👏🏽 (despite 5 C’s and ALL that doubt) and today I am a medical school graduate and incoming OBGYN resident!! It still feels surreal to even say that 💕 so KEEP AT IT. ⁣ ⁣ You are so much more than your grades (I’m the perfect example!) and over the last 5 years I have loved sharing all the things I learned the hard way about successfully applying so you don’t have to 🫶🏽 🩺 Don’t forget to comment “JOURNEY” to join me for my Free “How to Stand Out & Get Accepted in 2026” Premed Workshop! #premedadvice #medschooljourney #premedstudent #medicalschool
