Let me introduce you to the hub by Premier Inn. If you haven’t stayed in one yet, this is your sign to book one for Edinburgh.
Here’s the concept: hubs are designed to be clever rather than spacious. The rooms are compact and extraordinarily well thought out…luggage slides away on a pull-out tray under the bed, and a large panel above the headboard controls everything in the room. Lights, temperature, all of it. No hunting for switches at midnight. No tripping over your suitcase.
There are two room types, a cozy nook style room with the bed tucked against the wall, perfect for solo travelers, and a slightly larger room with space on either side of the bed for couples. What you won’t find is a twin room, so this isn’t the hotel to share with a friend. It’s designed for one or two people who want a smart, comfortable base without paying for space they’re not going to use.
What the rooms lack in square footage the downstairs lounge more than makes up for. It’s a great spot to decompress at the end of the day, recap the highlights over a drink, and actually spend time with your travel companions in a space where you can breathe.
