I’m trying to give this plant a chance to keep thriving… without it taking over my house.
Root pruning is one way to do that.
When a plant starts to outgrow its pot, you don’t always have to move it into a bigger container. Sometimes you can remove a portion of the roots and refresh the soil to give the plant more breathing room.
It’s a simple process:
• Start by gently removing the plant from the pot
• Trim back no more that 30% of the bottom of the root ball.
• Place in the same pot or a new one and and fresh soil to the pot.
• Place the plant back in and water it in.
This helps reset the root zone and can buy the plant more time in the same pot.
Sometimes the goal isn’t a bigger plant… it’s a healthier one.
