I recently shared a viral mini book ornament reel where I used my cricut to cut foil designs onto ornaments. However a lot of you don’t have access to a cricut so this is a fun and easy alternative way to cover your mini ornaments! All you need is a printer and some printable canvas. I based these off of some of the books I rebound this year using printable canvas, since I already had the designs readily available. Everything was designed in Canva, the art of the books I used is all either public domain or available in Canva for free. These mini book Christmas ornaments make a great gift for friends and family and are truly very easy to make! With adding printable canvas it is so easy to customize them, for kids, adults, grandparents, friends. Truly the sky is the limit! After months of working on this project ( so you don’t have too 😜), I am delighted to present my New Foundation Paper Piecing Pattern “Girl With The Pearl Earring” based on the 1665 famous oil painting by Dutch Golden Age painter Johannes Vermeer. It would be a dream to see her one day!❤️ With this project I aimed to create as much visual complexity as possible while at the same time simplifying the construction to piece it together. Using only 15 fabrics of color, I wanted to highlight her poignant stare while throwing in fun and vibrant colors. IT WAS SO FUN! This Quilt Measures 60x60, has 76 Paper Piecing Units, and 563 fabric shapes. This pattern is available in 3 forms: (1) PDF Download, (2) Paper Pattern and (3) Quilt Kit. The Quilt Kits are available for a limited time while supplies last. Process below: ▫️ -Make a 2 color image -Engrave one color in a piece of wood with a laser cutter -Engrave the negative of the other color into a contrasting piece of wood -glue them together. The pieces will fit together like Legos -Remove the excess wood from the top with a planer, drum sander, hand plane, ect. -Then you're done besides finishing however you want ▫️ These are based on cross stitch and embroidery patterns. Mainly from old Berlin Work Charts. These were used by folks in the early industrial revolutions to produce repeatable embroidery designs. You can find a ton of inspiration from historical references. They are all in the public domain for the most part. So look at old mosaic work, parquetry, marquetry.
