WW2 Vintage M-1942 Frogskin Camo Coveralls AKA Jungle Suit. The 100% cotton HBT fabric is reversible green/brown. This suit is a rare and fascinating piece of early US camouflage history. “The first style of frogskin combat camouflage uniform was issued as a one-piece jungle jumpsuit. It had built in suspenders to help keep the suit up under load”. All snaps are present and working. The Conmar brand zip is present and runs well. Jumpsuit has large cargo pockets, which are held down by stout brass friction snaps. While developed by the Army, these coveralls are best known for use by the Marines in the Pacific Theater during WW2. #frogcamo #ww2camo #ww2frogskincamo #camocoveralls #ww2merines

More items that never existed… The USMC 44 utility trouser in Mitchell Camouflage pattern…. Cut true and sewn true to spec with original stock metal buttons…and 1950s camouflage cloth… This was a fun project but also very difficult and expensive but was worth it. I made about 10 pairs on vintage machines with the correct sewing as found on originals. Paired up with a Patagonia retro x I been rocking this style for 30 odd years and it’s nice to see the new vintage generation catching up to the old school eventually… #camo #vintagemilitary #camoflauge #rugged #ruggedstyle

The USArmy was presented the M-41 jump suit by the Designers from the Quartermaster and it was found to be lacking…. Redesigned it was again replaced by the updated M-42 suit….. The jacket pockets ripped during jump and the leg thigh pockets burst resulting in canvas being added. After 101st Airborne had extensively tested the suit in England several modifications were then carried out by the newly formed 529th QMSR Co who had recently set up shop in country… The 529th published a very interesting brief document listing their achievements listing the Jump suit modifications their first large scale sewing job…….. The M-42 jump suit with its modifications went on to become one of the most Iconic US Airborne uniforms ever to exist and was the basis for the Tropical uniform that was fielded in the Vietnam war….this of course was again modified to become the Woodland M-81 so it defined the silhouette of the US Army from 1941 to present day….. Not a bad design run. One of the most Iconic camouflage items to exist is a symbol of The Marine Corps and that is the reversible helmet cover. The Marine Corps Equipment Board made a recommendation in 1942 that Every Marine should be issued with a camouflage helmet cover with a 15% replenishment rate. Covers were not manufacture marked but were supplied by the same companies who made the P42 suits….. Here’s the original Helmet manufacturer spec as well as the cover being worn along with added nets on Bougainville etc… A helmet with a cover is usually pride of place in a collection today as they live on as a symbol of the Pacific battlefield. #camo #ruggedstyle #vintagemilitary #helmet #frogskin
