Happy world Braille day! These sets were very kindly #gifted to me by @lego back in February last year but we've given them a proper road test and our girlguiding units love them! 👉 Follow @otters.have.pockets for more content VD: Seren, a girlguiding leader with shoulder length brown hair with purple streaks underneath around her neck. She is wearing her navy guiding uniform with a whistle around her neck and kneels on a wooden floor in a hall in front of a box of Lego. There are lots of clips The swap between rainbows and guides rainbows wearing red uniforms and guides wearing blue and red. They are spelling their names with the Lego bricks and the shots range from picking up bricks from a pile, sorting through them, finding letters, and tidying them or stacking them. The shots are just of the young member's hands sticking down the bricks on the Lego mat or finding them in the piles. When Seren is explaining how the braille works It shows her reading the Braille on the box and then changes to 4 bricks stuck down spelling Lego. The bricks are similar to a normal Lego brick with eight studs but are personalised and have print at the bottom showing which print letter and then the corresponding amount of studs to represent the Braille letter. It then shows a full cell embossed onto paper which is 6 raised dots in 2 columns of 3 With the text this is a full cell but also actually the word "for" When you can hear Seren explaining the braille numbers to a rainbow, she's using the black card  that comes in the Braille bricks box to show them which has all of the bricks displayed in lines with Braille embossed above them. I welcomed the opportunity to meet with RNIB staff as well as partially sighted people to further understand the vital importance of vision rehabilitation services. 99-year-old Dubliner Michael is registered blind. His eyes have deteriorated over the last year or so, and sadly, there’s nothing left that the doctors can do to maintain his already compromised vision. Recently, he has started to enjoy adjusting his Venetian blinds and will often give me a demonstration of how they work. I’m guessing that he likes being able to control the light that hits his face, which, perhaps, feels quite empowering to somebody coming to terms with visual impairment. . . #blindveteransuk #rnib #londonirish
