23 years ago.. Operation Iraqi Freedom Began 🇺🇸 I served in Iraq from 2009–2010. I’m proud of my service and proud to have the ability to serve. I worked inside a prison, face-to-face with over 7,000 detainees Taliban, Al-Qaeda, mujahedin, Ba’ath party. I saw things most will never understand. I also worked alongside the Iraqi people missions, projects, rebuilding, human connection. I don’t care about your politics or conspiracy theories. If you weren’t there, you don’t get a seat at this table. This isn’t opinion it’s lived experience. God bless everyone who was a part of that campaign. 🇺🇸 On March 19, 2003, U.S. President George W. Bush ordered air strikes on Baghdad, thus launching the Iraq War to oust dictator Saddam Hussein. This military campaign, which began under the codename “Operation Iraqi Freedom,” marked the beginning of a conflict that would dramatically reshape the Middle East landscape for decades to come. The initial bombardment, described as a “shock and awe” campaign, targeted key government and military installations in the Iraqi capital. Within hours of President Bush’s televised address to the nation announcing the invasion, explosions illuminated Baghdad’s night sky as coalition forces commenced their assault. #OIF #Invasion
