⚠️ Important info below: 1. Why could I still find (very low quality) uraninite? The ALARA rule (As Low As Reasonably Achievable) basically dictates that with areas like this you can't clean everything up 100% so the only reasonable thing to do is get most of it and prevent a state of emergency/health hazard. As I mentioned and demonstrated in the video, having smaller rocks like that out in the middle of nowhere won't hurt anybody as long as the dose rates remain under the treshold. This rule is the gold standard worldwide. 2. Collection: I would advise you to obey the basic laws of nature. If it looks dangerous or poisonous, it probably is. Leave it alone. Also, if you do not have proper equipment and knowledge, I definitely advise against doing any type of surveying or collecting. 3. Tolerance. Since Uranium and radiation itself is everywhere, we and everything else on Earth has evolved to tolerate it to some degree. Unless you build your houses out of ore bearing rocks or use them as a pillow, you do not have to worry. 4. Radon. You can check if your area is of concern, because governments and health authorities have definitely mapped your country and know about it. If you have good ventillation, you should not be too worried even if your house is made out of slag bricks (like mine). In Hungary, Radon basically can only be an issue related to slag brick buildings. For countries like the US, there are some areas of concern. ⚠️ WARNING: This is not expert advice. Although I consider myself well versed in this subject and I have field experience, a short format video is not the best platform to spread information on a complicated topic such as this one. Therefore, I have simplified several issues I have mentioned. If you are interested, feel free to read up on the subject! Visible light slips through the candle flame because it’s just hot glowing gas, so it can’t block or bend enough light to form a shadow — but radioactive rays are powerful, invisible bullets that interact with the tiny carbon soot particles hidden inside the flame, so radiation gets partially stopped and a dark shape appears, proving that normal light only shows surfaces while radioactivity exposes the unseen structure of matter itself, reminding us that danger isn’t always visible and the energy that passes through us silently can cause the deepest damage #Science #Physics #QuantumMechanics #NuclearPhysics #Radioactivity Engineering AtomicStructure ParticlePhysics EnergyTransformation NuclearDecay HalfLife ModernScience STEM FusionAndFission Mathematics ScientificThinking HistoryOfScience TechInnovation Astrophysics GlobalKnowledge

A bit of a teaser from my next video - what you can find on the Hungarian roadside? Apparently some bright yellow & green U minerals with uraninite in sandstone matrix. NOTE: This amount of radiation is NOT dangerous unless you eat it or are exposed to it for a long time. Still, you have to know how to properly handle radioactive minerals to avoid contamination. Do not handle them if you are not aware of the risks. Those rocks got there by accident - a truck backed over the metal pole and it turned the rocks out from the ground. Otherwise they would have remained underground where they belong. The Kővágószőlős Uranium Mine operated from 1957 to 1997, for nearly 40 years. Nearly 50 million tons of rock was mined. 5 shafts were established in an area of 65 square kilometers. The maximum depth of the mine was around 1300 meters. There is risk of collapse in a large abandoned wooded area due to many near-surface excavations. It is a Permian sandstone-type uranium deposit. #uranium #radioactivity #radiacode #mineralcollecting #uvminerals

Marie Curie died in 1934, yet her body remains so radioactive that her Panthéon tomb is sealed inside an inch-thick lead coffin. The world’s only double Nobel winner (Physics & Chemistry) discovered polonium and radium while carrying glowing vials in her pockets and keeping samples on her desk, completely unaware of the danger. That relentless exposure eventually caused the aplastic anemia that killed her at 66. Nearly a century later, her lab notebooks, cookbook, and even clothing are still hazardous—stored in lead-lined boxes at France’s National Library, viewable only with signed waivers and protective suits. The woman who illuminated the atomic age literally still glows in the dark. #MarieCurie #Radioactivity #NobelPrize #WomenInScience #Radium #Polonium #ScienceHistory #PierreCurie #Panthéon #LeadCoffin #GlowingLegacy #STEMLegend #FatalDiscovery #CurieNotebooks #ImmortalRadiation #viral #alchetron Read more about Marie Curie : https://alchetron.com/Marie-Curie

🚨 On April 26, 1986, a major disaster occurred at Chernobyl in Ukraine. The map shown here acts like a "radioactive radar." It displays how high the radiation levels were at that time. On this map, red areas show where the radiation was the strongest and most dangerous. Sadly, more than 10,000 people died during the year of the accident. Many more people lost their lives in the years that followed due to the long-term effects. Source: irsn.fr #space #science #radioactivity #astronomy #chernobyl

Radioactive isotopes like uranium constantly decay, releasing tiny particles and rays we know as alpha, beta, and gamma radiation. Inside a cloud chamber, those invisible emissions become visible trails, as charged particles ionize super-cooled vapor. Each streak you see is a different type of radiation cutting through the chamber, a rare real-time view of atomic decay happening at the subatomic level. 🎥 Credit:@universe.mania / @physicsgene 👉👉 Follow @pulsatai for more science visuals like this. #Physics #Radioactivity #Uranium #CloudChamber #NuclearPhysics #AlphaParticles #BetaParticles #GammaRays #ScienceFacts #ScienceDaily #ParticlePhysics #PhysicsFun #AtomicScience #STEM #ScienceVideo #EducationalReels #TechReels

What happens when your body mistakes a radioactive element for a vital mineral? In the 1920s, the Radium Girls were told the glowing paint they worked with was harmless. But the periodic table tells a different story. Radium is a "bone-seeker" because its chemical structure mimics calcium so closely that the human body literally cannot tell them apart. When these workers used their lips to sharpen their brushes, their bodies deposited radioactive radium directly into their bones and teeth. The resulting "radium jaw" caused their bones to crumble as high-energy alpha particles shredded their DNA at a microscopic level. Their bodies became so saturated with radiation that they reportedly glowed in their coffins long after death. This tragedy didn't just change the law; it changed our entire understanding of how the body interacts with the elements we invite inside. #ScienceInAHurry #RadiumGirls #ScienceFacts #ChemistryDaily #MedicalHistory #Radioactivity #STEMEducation #WomenInHistory #IndustrialSafety #ScienceGram #History #Chemistry

Radioactive isotopes like uranium naturally decay, releasing tiny particles and powerful rays known as radiation. Here, we see this phenomenon vividly demonstrated in a cloud chamber—an ingenious scientific instrument. Alpha particles (heavy and short-range), beta particles (fast-moving electrons), and gamma rays (pure energy waves) shoot out from uranium, ionizing vapor inside the chamber. The result? Stunning visible trails revealing the hidden choreography of atomic decay! #Physics #Radioactivity #Uranium #CloudChamber #NuclearPhysics AlphaParticles BetaParticles GammaRays ScienceFacts ScienceDaily ParticlePhysics PhysicsFun AtomicScience
