ABThis is the most unique Ramayana of India, called Ramman.
Celebrated in the Salud-Dungra villages of Uttarakhand, Ramman is a unique storytelling based ritual theater featuring Ramayana intertwined with local deity worship.
Where the whole Ramayana is narrated through folk music, folk dance and ancient masks. This retelling happens over 18 acts, during which different masked characters emerge along with characters dressed as Ram, Laxman, Sita and Hanuman, where their performances tell the story of Ram’s journey, along with stories of local legend and folk deities.
This festival is also one of the festivals registered as UNESCO Intangible cultural heritage, to preserve this unique culture of Uttarakhand.

CRचमोली के सलूड़ डुंग्रा गांव में आज आयोजित होगा विश्व की सांस्कृतिक धरोहरों में शामिल "रम्माण" मेला।
*रम्माण!*
माना जाता है कि रम्माण का इतिहास लगभग 500 वर्षों से भी पुराना है। जब यहां हिन्दू धर्म का प्रभाव समाप्ति पर था तो आदि गुरु शंकराचार्य द्वारा हिन्दू धर्म के पुनर्जन्म हेतु पूरे देश में चार पीठों की स्थापना की गई, साथ ही ज्योर्तिमठ (जोशीमठ) के आस-पास के इलाकों में हिन्दू धर्म के प्रति लोगों को पुन: जागृत करने हेतु अपने शिष्यों को हिन्दू देवी-देवताओं के मुखौटे पहनाकर रामायण, महाभारत के कुछ अंशों को मुखौटा नृत्य के माध्यम से गांव-गांव में भेजा गया ताकि लोक हिन्दू धर्म को पुन: अपना सकें. शंकराचार्य के शिष्यों द्वारा कई सालों तक मुखौटे पहनकर इन गांवों में नृत्यों का आयोजन किया जाता रहा, जो बाद में यहां के समाज का अभिन्न अंग बनकर रह गई और आज विश्व धरोहर बन चुकी है।

पैनखण्डा (जोशीमठ) के सलडू-डूंग्रा गांव में रम्माण का आयोजन प्रतिवर्ष बैशाख माह में किया जाता है. एक पखवाड़े तक चलने वाली मुखौटा शैली व भल्दा परंपरा की यह लोकसंस्कृति आज शोध का विषय बन गई है. पांच सौ वर्ष से चली आ रही इस धार्मिक विरासत में राम, लक्ष्मण, सीता, हनुमान के पात्रों द्वारा नृत्य शैली में रामकथा की प्रस्तुति दी जाती है. जिसमें 18 मुखौटे 18 ताल, 12 ढोल, 12 दमाऊं, आठ भंकोरे प्रयोग में लाये जाते हैं. इसके अलावा राम जन्म, वनगमन, स्वर्ण मृग वध, सीता हरण, लंका दहन का मंचन ढोलों की थापों पर किया जाता है. जिसमें कुरू जोगी, बण्यां-बण्यांण तथा माल के विशेष चरित्र होते हैं जो लोगों को खासे हंसाते हैं, साथ ही जंगली जीवों के आक्रमण का मनमोहक चित्रण म्योर-मुरैण नृत्य नाटिका भी होती है.

Hindistan’ın Uttarakhand bölgesinde yüzyıllardır sürdürülen Ramman Festivali, dansın bir gösteri değil kolektif hafızanın parçası olduğu nadir geleneklerden biri olarak yaşatılıyor. Köy halkı ahşap maskeler ve el yapımı kostümlerle sahneye çıkarak tanrıları, kralları ve mitolojik figürleri canlandırıyor.
Bu ritüelde her adımın bir kuralı, her hareketin bir anlamı var. Davullar eşliğinde yapılan danslar köyün tarihini, inançlarını ve toplumsal bağlarını kuşaktan kuşağa aktarıyor.
