AV1. Adrenaline is one hell of a drug.
Even if you are in pain or feeling under the weather, the second the lights turn on and the curtain goes up all those feelings are numbed. For better or worse,!adrenaline always masks any really pain, leaving you with a price to pay later.
2. Not every show will work in your favor. The tempo is uncontrollable when with a live orchestra, your shoes that may have felt good before the stage may feel horrible. These are all real and uncontrollable factors one must learn to navigate.
3. You grieve performances you never got to do. Whether itโs for an injury or casting choices, the feeling of watching others do something you wish you were apart of cuts deep. Itโs worse than feeling left out or behind, itโs almost as if you are watching from behind a glass wall but nobody can see you on the other side.
4. Your sleep and recovery time gets worse. The amount of energy and adrenaline that is required for a performance sends your body and nervous system into complete overdrive.
