#reflexintegration #sensorischeintegration #bewegungistlernen #Nervensystem #viralreels

💬 Here’s what I begin to notice in Hakeem: 🧠 Better movement and coordination: My son gained more control over his body. Movements become smoother and more confident, which makes everyday activities easier and less frustrating. He started to look less clumsy and more in control of his own body. 🧠 Stronger fine motor skills: Hands and fingers start working together more efficiently. This shows up in things like neater handwriting, better drawing, and more confidence with small, precise tasks. 🧠 Less sensory overload: Sounds, textures, and daily sensory input become more manageable. This means fewer meltdowns and less irritability throughout the day. 🧠 More flexibility with food choices: When sensory sensitivity decreases, many children become more open to trying new foods and expanding their diet. This also means that eating habits can change, since the food texture may be tolerated better. It was a game-changer for my son. Our diet has changed drastically for the better. 🧠 More emotional balance: As primitive reflexes integrate, anxiety and emotional ups and downs often soften. My son tends to feel calmer, more grounded, and more secure in himself. 🧠 Improved focus and learning: It becomes easier for Hakeem to pay attention, stay on task, listen, and absorb information. Learning feels less overwhelming and more natural as it should. 🧠 Clearer speech and communication: Speech often flows more smoothly and feels like coming through more. My boy started to express himself better, speak more clearly, and understand information more easily. 🪩 By working with primitive reflexes, you’re not “fixing” your child - you’re supporting their nervous system so it can grow and develop the way it was designed to. This is where a strong foundation begins. Everything our kids do - moving their bodies, learning, communicating, even handling emotions - starts with skills that should naturally develop in the early years. When those early reflexes integrate properly, the nervous system can finally do its job the way it’s meant to. #autism #autismroadmap #reflexintegration #autismsupport #primitivereflexintegration

ATNR reflex activities 🧠 The Asymmetrical Tonic Neck Reflex (ATNR) is an early reflex that should integrate as a child develops. When it remains active, it can impact coordination, crossing midline, and handwriting skills. These activities help support integration by encouraging the arms and body to work together across midline. Targeting: • Crossing midline • Bilateral coordination • Postural control • Visual-motor integration • Handwriting readiness Supporting reflex integration helps build the foundation for more efficient movement and learning. Play-based. Functional. Intentional OT. 💛 #pediatricot #reflexintegration #handwritingreadiness #grossmotorskills #occupationaltherapy

Reflex integration is growing in popularity (yay!) but it’s so important to identify the functional symptoms of retained reflexes as well as how the reflexive patterns actually present in infants, so we can properly integrate them with children / adults! The TLR splits the body in half- front to back and there are two patterns- flexion and extension. When integrating this reflex, we need to address both! Hence, why I love these two activities to much! Try them and report back! ⚡️ Comment: REFLEX if you want more guidance or if you’re a therapist and want to earn CEUs while you learn! #primitivereflexes #reflexintegration #occupationaltherapy #adhd #activitiesforkids

TLR reflex🧠🚼 TLR emerges at birth and integrates around 4-6 mo. It facilitates muscle tone and posture based on the heads position in space. ⭐️if retained a child may display: •poor postural control •trouble sitting upright at desk •fatigue with seated work •poor body awareness •motion sensitivity ⭐️how to test: •have child lie prone, body relaxed head in neutral •gently move head into flexing (chin to chest), return back to neutral •gently move head into extension -> back to neutral •it’s retained if arms/legs curl in during flexion OR arms/legs stiffen in extension #primitivereflexesintegration #occupationaltherapy #schoolbasedot #pediatricot #reflexintegration

Reflex integration with a twist! This was harder than I thought- but a good challenge nonetheless! I love finding creative ways to target primitive reflexes, which is exactly what I’m teaching in this year’s virtual summit! The best part? I’m teaching it live to a group of parents, therapists and teachers in Tulsa at @llhtulsa and sharing the recording with you! Live demonstrations, real life case studies, and the FUN you need to help make sense of primitive reflexes! This 6 hour course will be available on 4/24 and you can pre order today! Comment: SUMMIT for the link to register and I’ll send you the link to my favorite @reactoy_official game! PS- here are a few other ways to target primitive reflexes with this tool: ☑️ laying in supine flexion (to work the Moro / TLR) ☑️ laying in prone extension (to work the TLR) ☑️ in standing underneath- looking up to catch (to work the TLR) ☑️ kneeling to the right or left of it (to work the ATNR) #primitivereflexes #reflexintegration #occupationaltherapy #aota #reactiontime

✨️ When the Landau reflex is retained (doesn’t integrate on time), it usually points toward postural control and tone regulation issues, and you’ll often see it affecting both movement and attention. 🧠 What’s supposed to happen normally Landau helps the child develop anti-gravity extension Then it integrates to allow smooth balance between flexion + extension 👉 If it stays active → the body gets “stuck” in extension patterns . . . . Perfect at school… meltdown at home?” 🧠💥 This is often called masking — and it’s more common than you think. At school, kids can use a huge amount of brain energy to hold it all together. Then they get home to their safe space… and everything they’ve been holding in comes out. It’s not bad behaviour — it’s nervous system overload. 🔹 One thing to check: • The Moro reflex (linked to stress + startle responses) • Simple screen: gentle pull back while they look up • If the arms fling up, it may still be active 🌀 Movement that can help: • Egg rocking (hug knees, rock back and forth) • Or gentle rocking in a chair • Rhythmic movement can help calm the nervous system 🔹 The big one parents often miss: After school = their brain is exhausted • Back-to-back activities can push them over the edge • They often need quiet, low-demand time first • Think: “nothing time” before anything else Sometimes the meltdown isn’t about what’s happening now… it’s everything they’ve been holding in all day 🤍 Hope that helps 🌱 #primitivereflexes #reflexintegration #brainandbodyhealth #childdevelopment #parentingtips

Primitive Reflex Integration – ATNR Activity ✨ If your child shows difficulty with: ✔️ Crossing midline ✔️ Writing posture ✔️ Hand-eye coordination ✔️ Maintaining sitting posture ✔️ Bilateral coordination It could be related to retention of the ATNR (Asymmetrical Tonic Neck Reflex). 🧠 Therapy Trick: Placing light weight (sandbag / small therapy ball) on the child’s back during crawling provides deep pressure input and promotes: 🔹 Shoulder stability 🔹 Core activation 🔹 Reflex integration 🔹 Improved body awareness 🔹 Better motor planning Crawling with controlled resistance helps the nervous system mature and supports better classroom performance. At Bright Beginnings – Early Intervention & Therapy Centre, we focus on structured movement to build strong neurological foundations for learning. 🌈 🌟 Every child deserves a bright beginning! 🌟 ⸻ Hashtags: #BrightBeginningsBahadurgarh #PrimitiveReflex #ATNR #ReflexIntegration #OccupationalTherapy CrawlingActivity CoreStability PediatricTherapy EarlyIntervention NeuroDevelopment MotorPlanning SpecialEducation InclusiveCare EveryChildMatters

For a lot of kiddos working on primitive reflex exercises can be HARD. Sometimes starting a bit easier and working our way up can really help! This video shows prep to target the primitive reflex Assymetrical Tonic Reflex (ATNR) but we’re starting here with cars to encourage weight bearing and head movement first! Typically we want to target more bilateral movement (both sides of the body) to integrate but if your kiddo is having a tough time, getting on all fours and crawling or watching cars move can be a good start. This reflex is responsible for helping a child safely move through the birth canal. It’s also a primitive reflex that helps babies move and explore. ➡️ When ATNR isn’t integrated, children may struggle with:
✏️ Handwriting & crossing midline
📖 Reading & visual tracking
🤸 Coordination and posture
🪑 Sitting still and using both sides of the body together In therapy, we target ATNR to help the brain and body work together, laying the foundation for stronger motor skills, attention, and confidence in daily tasks 💪 Shoutout to my friend here who asked me if he would be famous for this video 😁 and happily wanted to show you his hard work. #OccupationalTherapy #ATNR #ReflexIntegration #PediatricOT #DevelopmentalMilestones Neurodevelopment OTLife ChildDevelopment
