GEDay three. Same desk, same lighting, same four walls.
Technically, it was a great day. All my core tasks get done. The inbox is behaving. But somewhere around 2:00 PM, I caught myself staring at a sunbeam on the floor for five minutes. Not thinking. Just... buffering.
I’ve been to the kitchen four times today. I wasn’t hungry once. I think I just needed to remind myself that other rooms exist.
There’s a version of remote work that looks like a digital nomad on a beach. And then there’s just Tuesday, where the only living thing you’ve spoken to is your monitor.
But then I remember the trade-off.
I traded the hour-long commute for a slow morning with my coffee. I traded the office lights for the ability to actually see my back yard. The walls feel a little close today, sure… but they’re my walls.
It’s a work in progress, figuring out how to keep the space feeling like a home and not just a headquarters. But even on the quiet days, I wouldn’t trade the flexibility.
Grateful for remote work, even if I clearly need to go touch some grass.
