5 unconventional running tips I scoffed at, but actually work: 1. Run with your mouth closed (on easy runs). Nasal breathing keeps your pace honest. Lower heart rate. Better aerobic base. If you can’t do it, you’re running too fast. 2. Finish easy runs with 4 x 20-second strides. Short. Controlled. Fast but relaxed. It keeps your legs sharp without messing up your plan. 3. Look 10-20 meters ahead, not down. Your posture follows your eyes. Chest up = better breathing = smoother stride. 4. Hum while you run. Yes, actually hum. If you can hum, you’re in zone 2. If you can’t, slow down. 5. Do 30-60 seconds of backward walking after your run. Sounds weird. But it strengthens knees, quads, and small stabilizer muscles most runners ignore.
